Tulsa’s Big Dam Party!! Happening Labor Day weekend in conjunction with the return of Tulsa’s Great Raft Race !

The Big Dam Party will debut Zink Lake with the new Whitewater Flume, Williams Crossing Pedestrian Bridge, and the Gathering Places’s expanded riverfront! There will be live music, food, rowing regattas, and flume competitions!

TIP TUESDAY | Timing is everything. Handle with care!
Anytime you invite someone to an event, you are asking them to spend some of their most valuable asset on you: their time.

Be intentional with the timeline to ensure your guests aren't waiting for long periods of time, and that you have assets in place to help run things efficiently. That means no to long lines, no to long photo sessions without food or entertainment for guests, no to 45 minute presentations that can bore, and yes to helping out of town guests think through logistics like transportation and hotel so they aren't spending more of their time researching in advance.

We will always prioritize your guest's experience and help offer guidance in caring for your guest's time.

TIP TUESDAY | Discuss your priorities

Talk with your fiancé and determine the top 3-4 priorities for your day. These are areas of your celebration that MUST go  well. Areas or details that will bring you joy if done well, and disappointment if not executed well. These areas will be where you spend more of your time, energy, and budget. For example, if photos are a priority for you, make sure you spend a considerable amount of time researching photographers and their styles/reviews, set aside a healthy budget in this category, and make sure this is one of the first vendors you lock in. If for example, invitations or signage are not as important to you, save those details for later and remember they don't get as much of your energy and budget. Allow yourself to make quick thoughtful decisions and not splurge on the fanciest option if it isn't in your priority list.

TIP TUESDAY | Don't skimp on photography

We never want to tell you how to spend your money, but we'd hate to see you learn this lesson the hard way. Other than the marriage itself, photos/video are the only thing that lasts beyond wedding day.
Flowers, the dress, the dinner, they are all great components to a party, but the photos are what make your memories last.

Time and time again we hear horror stories of couples entrusting this role to a family member with a nice camera, or their co-worker's friend who has done some family portraits, only to get less than ideal results in either quality and/or quantity of their photos and the wedding day experience.

We've learned this lesson for you - cheap photographers are often not good, and good photographers are often not cheap.

TIP TUESDAY | To assign seats or not to assign seats
That's the question. You are only obligated to assign seats for your dinner reception if you are having a plated dinner and have given guests the option of entrees (i.e. Chicken or Beef). In this instance, your catering team needs to know who ordered what as they are bringing out the plates and visibly see on the placecards their selection.

If you aren't giving meal options, you can either assign tables instead of individual seats, or let guests find their own seats throughout the reception. Just make sure you reserve some tables for family and the wedding party so they have great seats together when joining the party after photos!

Ya'll, we really love love.

Your love, her love, his love, their love... all of it. It's a beautiful blessing for us to get to support couples who want to celebrate their commitment of love to each other. Sadly, some of our couples need more support than others when it comes to feeling like their love is accepted. TIP TUESDAY | Transportation

We don't just mean the getaway car for your getaway photo op, we mean logistical transportation for you, your wedding party, and possibly your guests.

If you are getting a getaway car but drove to the venue, how is your personal car getting home? Will there need to be rides coordinated with your wedding party so they can stay together for photos? Will the hotel offer free shuttle transportation to your guests that are staying there?

Take a moment to think through your out-of-town guests, your bridesmaids and groomsmen, and yourselves to make sure there won't be an instance of someone or something being "left behind".

Bonus tip: If you'll need transportation services in May or December, book early because that's Prom/Formal dance season!
