Another 10-minute dinner based on excess soup post packaging.

Sherry tomato cream—just a little.

A light version of clam chowder with a few potatoes, cream, caramelized fennel, leeks and shallots with a touch of thyme.

Chicken bone broth that I always have on hand at the kitchen and at home with Trader Joe’s chicken cilantro wontons.

Salad with cumin lime aioli with dill.

I think what I really want are liquids . . .

Thin spaghetti in Sandeman Fine Tawny Port beef bone broth reduction with a little cream garnished with caramelized Vidalia onions, sautéed honey ham and portobellos, teeny tiny tomatoes, dill.

Dinner at home with some carbs already.

Took 10 minutes with a pot and a pan.

So last night I cooked for a second party, which I could not execute in person until later in the evening.

I am so grateful for the people who helped me shine from afar. Somehow I am unable to tag them, but I can be thankful for the positive energy they brought to that party.

When I did finally arrive to do the final “beefing out” of the buffet, I was surprised to see so many guests that I knew.

It seems like it is one degree of separation in Tulsa.
I cannot even count how many people that I am privileged to know here.

I love my city.

Party time in Sand Springs, embezzled stuff that gets returned on Monday, and a Sunday trifecta in the mix—because we all should laugh every day.

This was one for the books! The bride of this 50th anniversary couple made a play list that spoke to me. I got to work, sing, wiggle, giggle, and chat all night long.

I cannot count how many times I laughed, but there was a part of me that missed my parents and our gatherings as a family.

Know this, y’all:

For many of us, our parents are the glue of the family. In my family, it was my Mommy.

When a generation passes, it is up to the next set of elders to keep those reunions going.

I vow to give it my best college try to stay connected to the family who live somewhere else.

I vow to bring light into any family gathering, eschewing petty bickering, and granting grace because if I need it, I gotta give it.

I vow to help create happy memories like the one last night where it begins in the kitchen. Good food is essential for great family gatherings.

A note on elders:

A few years ago, I was getting on to my nephew who was being naughty. I said to him, “You need to learn to respect your elders.”

He said, “You’re not an elder.”

HAH!

Charm isn’t lost on me.
