Banquet Set Up Job Description; Celebrations at The Gables is now hiring part-time Summer Banquet set-up and Serving Staff
Banquet set up person would set up and tear down for events, conferences, and meals. Must be able to read room lay out / instructions for each banquet event order. Must be able to lift tables and chairs when setting up each room.
Duties of a Banquet Set up Person
• Tear-down and set up of the Stables. This may include stripping the room of all its furniture, vacuuming the floor and resetting the room per the specifications outlined by the room layout. Dust down and set pews and chairs in Chapel.
• Set tables with silverware, glassware and other items.
• Storing equipment and materials neatly in proper areas.
• Emptying trash from all function areas.
• Changing linen, and putting it in the correct areas for cleaning, and pick up.
• Vacuuming before each event.
• Inspecting Banquet equipment for defects, cleanliness, and any other maintenance needed and reporting to the manager.
• Cleaning and mopping of the pantry
• Tear-down and set up of dance floor.
• Any other reasonable task, written or verbal, by Manager or Capitan
Requirements for a Banquet Set Up
Must be able to safely lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. Frequent standing, walking, lifting, bending. Must able to work nights, weekends and weekend nights. Must be able to work in a fast past work environment. Must be able to work independently. Must be able to work a flexible schedule. Reliable Transportation.
Banquet servers are non-standard waiters and waitresses. Banquet servers are responsible for accommodating all guests at a function while circulating the room. Anticipating the needs of the guests and responding politely to their requests are common required tasks.
Duties of a Banquet Server
• attentively listen to pre‐shift meeting conducted by banquet manager or banquet captain. Also learn function particulars, including guest expectations.
• Prepare and serve meal accompaniments to guests.
• Perform side work as determined by manager or captain.
• Bus and set tables.
• Perform set up and breakdown of various stations (i.e., water, dessert, coffee, gift).
• Communicate with support crew and management
• Set up banquet room as instructed by Banquet Manager to include linen, service‐ware and glassware.
• Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards.
• Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.
• Anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day.
• Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
• Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction. Involve manager if needed.
• Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.
• Practice "Clean as you go" policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned. and sanitary work environment
Requirements for a Banquet Server
Customer service or waiter experience is a requirement for this position. Also, a list of references is required. A banquet server must be able to perform the duties of the job without difficulty, in addition to being courteous and attentive to guests during a function. Must be 18 or older. Must be willing to work any night or weekend. Must be able to bend easily, and lift 25-50 pounds. Apply within or send your resume to [email protected]
