22 years again today I made one of the best decisions of my life and Married my Best Friend Kelli A Newsom. I can’t believe it’s been 22 years! Seems like it was just yesterday when we were dating. Yesterday I was honored to receive the 2020 DJ OF THE YEAR award from the DJ Crosstalk Group which is based in Texas but is a group of DJs from around the country that are all business owners that discuss and share business tips and information to help us all grow our respective businesses. I have worked harder during this pandemic than ever before and with all the changes we all had to make I was still able to make my business sustain and grow during a Global Pandemic. I am truly humbled and honored to receive this award! Here is the announcement I received from the DJ Crosstalk Group creator Jeffery Powell and they presented it to me during my live stream on Twitch last night!

DJ of the Year - DJ Rell-E-Rell

He Re-Brand and Re-Vamp his business during the Pandemic. Started streaming on Twitch in April and since then have built a following. He quickly became an Affiliate on Twitch which then allowed him to now get paid for streaming on Twitch. In 6 months he has reached over 2K followers and created a network of DJs that I now work with on a daily basis. These DJs are from all over the world and the United States

He participated in BEATS FOR A CURE, which was a 72 hour DJ Marathon to raise money for Cancer Awareness. He had over 25 DJs, in 4 countries for 1 cause! Each of them had a 2 hour set and all proceeds earned during the stream went to a charity of our choice. He was able to raise $900 during his set!

He has also been able to use my twitch platform to do Virtual events such as Bowling Green State University Homecoming and the Regional Conference for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated. Which was both Zoom events that he integrated into his twitch stream. He also was able help raise awareness for Voter Registration and Voter rights, Epilepsy and Depression and many other causes.

All in all he was able to add Video Production to his business and can offer that service to his clients now as well.

It’s been pretty amazing that even during a Global Pandemic he was able to continue to earn income and grow his business. “2020 has definitely been a different year but it’s all about what you do with the hand that’s dealt to you.” DJ Rell-e-Rell —
