Happy Solstice friends!

Sugar Shaun's Maple and I are making maple peanuts for friends and family this holiday. The house smells sooo good!

We're simultaneously experimenting with different recipes so that we can offer these yummy snacks at the farm stand and for customers.

I also made some stovetop potpourri with dehydrated oranges and apples, cinnamon, star anise and nutmeg.

Homemade gifts over store bought is what I believe holidays are all about

Made a holiday wreath today with some dried yarrow and other ingredients from around the property

Considering making more to sell at the farm stand

Put a fresh layer of compost/loam (from Barron Brothers Development, Inc. ) on the beds and wood chips in the walkways today.
Love knowing that the wood chips will break down into organic material to feed the plants in the future. The wood chips also help with w**d control without using plastic w**d "fabrics" that leech micro plastic into the soil and suffocate microbes

We love Maple moon sugarhouse ! It's such a beautiful place with truly unique high quality items to get a head start on your holiday shopping.

Shaun took this bird's eye view photo of the yard while retrieving a frisbee from the roof the other day. It shows almost all the areas that I grow in except 4 raised beds located in the front.

I can't wait to climb up there next season to take a picture when it's full of flowers

It's heading to the stand today

Im sorry to open the stand with only one arrangement but that's all that is left of the flowers

Covered a handful of beds with frost cloth tonight while the full moon was rising 🌝

Since we have some warm days coming up I figured its worth a shot for a possible extra week of flowers 🍀

The side of me that is so sad to see the flowers go, lost to the side of me (the more reasonable side) that knows it's time to switch gears and get the beds ready for spring blooms, garlic and tulip planting and dahlia digging and storing

I was able to harvest 2 buckets of flowers tonight so if youre in need of a flower boost let me know 💐

Today I'll be tagging/labeling all the dahlia tubers that I'm going to dig up and store for next year

Not all of them will make the cut. I'll post pictures of the "rejects" if anyone local is interested in trying their hand at storing dahlia tubers to plant in the spring I will happily share them with you.

The rain forecast for today is ever changing

The stand is open now but probably only until 3 unless the weather takes a turn for the better

Sad to see all these blooms go this week but with temps hitting 32/33. I don't think the frost cloth will be enough to save them.

Never the less it's been an incredible year of flowers and I couldn't ask for more

A special thanks to everyone who has supported my passion of flowers and the magic they bring to us. I'm already planning what's in store for next year.
