Thank you so much to everyone who has liked, shared, left feedback or comments regarding A Spoonful of Tea. Every kind word of support and encouragement is like a breath of fresh air, filling my soul with confidence and lifting my wings for flight. I still can’t believe I’m actually doing this: starting up my own business of running a tea party service.
For those of you who may not know me yet, let me take just a moment and introduce myself and my company to you:
My name is Brittney MacLiver. I’m 34 years old and I love tea! I love tea parties, I love tea cups, tea pots, tea spoons. I. Love. All. Things. Tea. My husband and I moved to the area just under three years ago from Phoenix Arizona. That is where I discovered my love for tea parties to begin with. The diversity of cultures in Phoenix is so large, you can just about sample every culture within a small mile radius. I was taken to my first tea party by a lovely family friend, and thought “oh absolutely not! I’m a West Texas native, and I do not drink hot tea or eat finger sandwiches and bite size desserts.” Friends- I was wrong. So very wrong in my first judgments about tea parties. That first visit to the tea shop opened my eyes and mind to the word ‘delicate’ and all that goes with it. I was/am a bit of a roughian, but sitting in front of a floral plate with a dainty little cup full of rich goodness somehow turns this West Texas native into a Southern Belle full of sweet charm and sassy sarcasm. I love that side of me, and I owe it to my moms friend for taking me out of my comfort zone and exposing me to customs I may not have ever experienced otherwise.
Fast forward to now and here we are: in Sulphur Louisiana and I have more tea things than I know what to do with. I have one daughter and she absolutely adores tea. Needless to say, we have accumulated LOTS of tea things over the course of her 11 years of life to host many many tea parties. We started hosting for her and her little friends, but then a mom friend would call me and ask if I could host a party for her daughter, or could I put a tea party together to honor someone’s mother of grandmother. And so I would host here and there. Once I was asked to host a private bridal tea honoring a young lady soon to be married. It was a very beautiful tea, if I may say so myself. So now I’m here in Sulphur and I have all my tea things but no one to really share them with. Except I do: I have all of you. I made up a menu of some of my most requested and loved tea foods along with a two page layout of all of my favorite tastes of tea and put them on my page: A Spoonful of Tea. I hope to meet many new friends in my journey of owning & operating my new business. I am solely mobile for now, which means I’ll be coming to you or to your grandmothers house or your place of business to set up your employee appreciation luncheon, but one day! One day my prayer is to open an establishment where all my friends from the surrounding areas can come to me, and I can be introduced to other ladies who love tea just as much as my daughter and I do.
Looking forward to all that God has in store,
All my love,
-B
