Any time I have a bride who mentions an aspect of decor along with a comment like âif you have timeâ or âyou donât have to go all out, do your bestâ, I make it a priority to go above and beyond! Tracy and Erickâs reaction to their whimsical dance floor was priceless and it made the perfect back drop for the sweetheart table, first dance, and open dance!

The truth is, in most cases having a backyard wedding will cost MORE than a traditional wedding venue. Unlike a traditional venue, a backyard wedding requires you to build your space from the ground up. Here are some of the basics you will need to consider for your backyard wedding that will begin to add up-
Tables
Chairs
Tents
Linens
Napkins
China
Dance floor
Lighting
Bathrooms
Generator
Labor & delivery fees
Permits & insurance
Additional staff
We hope this helped to shed some light on this common misconception! We recognize that there are unique cases, but generally we would not recommend going this route if the main motivation is to save money. In the end though, we encourage you to do whatâs best for you as a couple.

Clarifying the dress code for you guests ensures your wedding remains as formal or as causal as you want it to be. It gives your guests a clear picture of whatâs appropriate and provides peace of mind while choosing attire for the day. Not to mention it helping eliminate an influx of questions coming in through text as soon as your invites start arriving to their destination!
Here are a few options for where to include dress code details-
⢠Directly on the wedding invite, typically in the lower left or lower right hand corner. Can also be placed on the bottom center.
⢠On the details card. If you are planning to send a details card out with your invites with other important information, this is a great place to put the dress code!
⢠On your wedding website. It all depends on how your wedding website is laid out, but typically I see dress code under the âQ&Aâ section!
Will your wedding have a dress code?

Hey, hey! Just your West Michigan Wedding Planner interrupting your feed to share a few fun facts about myself on this sunny Monday afternoon.
⢠Iâve wanted to be a wedding planner for as long as I can remember. However, a couple of my childhood career aspirations include a pastry chef and a farmer (lol).
⢠I prefer Matcha or Chai over coffee.
⢠I lived in Northern California in my early 20âs but moved back to Michigan in order to dive into the wedding industry. Grand Rapids has always had my heart!
⢠I have 2 fur babies named Biscuit and Bear. They are sister black cats!
⢠When Iâm not planning your wedding, you can catch me at a local coffee shop, on a hot girl walk, or (poorly) playing pickle ball.
Thanks for reading!

Wedding planning can be an overwhelming, but creating a guest list is a crucial step in the process. The guest list will guide you on the size of the venue, the amount of food and drinks needed, and the overall budget for your wedding. Here are some steps to help you create a guest list:
1. Start with your immediate family and close friends: Begin by listing the people you cannot imagine getting married without. These are the people who have supported you throughout your life, and you want them to be part of your special day.
2. Create a tiered list: Continue writing down every person you would consider inviting to your big day, then divide your list into three tiers: A-list, B-list, and C-list. The A-list should include people you cannot imagine getting married without, while the B-list should include people who you would like to invite but do not have to be there if budget or space does not permit it. The C-list should include people you may invite if there is extra space or budget.
3. Set your budget: Determine how much you can spend on your wedding and calculate roughly how much each guest will cost. This will help you decide how many people you can actually invite.
Creating a guest list may seem like a daunting task, but it is an important step in planning your wedding. Follow these steps and remember to be realistic and flexible. Your wedding day is about celebrating your love with the people who matter most to you!

While research is vital to be well informed going into the planning process, it is important to maintain a healthy balance so you can avoid being crippled by choice. There is endless inspiration at your fingertips that can easily overwhelm you and cause you to second guess the choices youâve made while planning. In addition to having a clear understanding of whatâs important, my advice is to not overthink it- go with your gut and donât look back!

If you are just beginning your wedding planning journey, the very first thing you will want to start with is determining your overall budget and identifying where your priorities are- in other words, the must-haves that you are willing to contribute more of your budget towards even if it means being more conservative in another area in order to make it happen.
Having these conversations with your fiancĂŠ early on in the planning process will help eliminate stress by ensuring you both are on the same page, w**d out vendors outside of your budget, and overall make your objectives clear.

No matter how well you plan a wedding, sometimes unexpected emergencies arise on the day of and you need a quick thinker who can remain calm and problem solve under pressure. Thatâs where youâre Day of Coordinator comes in! We works behind the scenes to handle these issues and come up with a solution so that you and your loved ones can carry on throughout the day in blissful ignorance. Here are the ways I solved the problems mentioned- 1. On their way to the wedding, the bartenders unfortunately got into a car accident (everyone was thankfully okay!). In the stress of it all, no one called to inform me of this issue. We always get vendor arrival times while building the timeline and will call if vendors arrive past the agreed upon timeframe, so luckily we were able to catch it before it was too late. I worked with the owner to send out a different staff member and in the meantime, me and my assistant hopped behind the bar and started slinging beer and wine to keep the guests happy and avoid anyone catching on that something went wrong. Yay for being TIPS certified! 2. The bride had her heart set on an outdoor ceremony. There were intense winds, dark skies, and heavy rain all morning. While we already had a rain plan in place, when the rain broke and sky cleared just before her ceremony, I was determined to make things work. My team and I rushed in to hand dry 300 ceremony chairs and get all of the guests sat quickly in order to not miss our chance. We got through the entire ceremony rain free only for it to start drizzle after the recessional! 3. The florist unfortunately delivered the incorrect quantities of florals, had damaged product, and dirty/melted candles. Fixing these issues for the couple was a no brainer for me! I spent the morning cleaning and rearranging candles on tables to address the unsightly rentals, reconstructing floral arrangements where product was damaged or falling out due to damaged containers, and trimming stems and re-ribboning bou
Picture this- you are 30 days out from the big day. Itâs finally starting to feel real. Countless months of hard work and planning are now needing to be finalized, tied together, and executed. Your vendors need final counts, payments, and instructions for the wedding day. Email overload begins. You have no idea how to build a timeline that makes the day flow smoothly. Decision fatigue sets in. If you are not hiring a planner or coordinator, here are a few things you will need to prepare to make your final month of planning as stress free as possible. Be sure to save this post for later! 1. Confirm your final guest count to all relevant vendors such as your venue, caterer, florist, and rental company. 2. Finalize your seating chart. 3. Design and order any day of stationary like seating chart, place cards, or escort cards. 4. Confirm vendor arrival times, locations, tear down details, and any other logistics that go along with this. 5. Review your contracts. Refresh your memory on coverage times, exclusions, and what is outlined in your packages. 6. Build your timeline. Be sure to share this with your vendors, your families, and your wedding party. 7. Provide your vendors with the final event details they need. This can include giving your final meal selections to catering, your song selections to your DJ, and your family photo shot list to your photographer. 8. Apply for and pick up your marriage license. 9. Organize and pack up your decor. If you are having your family or wedding party help with set up, be sure to have a reference sheet for what goes where in order to make things as efficient as possible! 10. Fulfill your final vendor payments and prepare any vendor tips youâd like to distribute day of! Be sure to save this one for later and follow for more planning tips! Taylor has a point đ When you opt out of hiring a coordinator for your big day, there are a lot of responsibilities that will ultimately fall into your lap. -Who will set up your decor? Hint: not your bridal party and mom, they will be busy getting their hair and makeup done alongside you! -Who will be the point of contact for your vendors? Will they be tracking you, the bride, down for any questions? More importantly, what happens if they donât show up or are late? With everything going on throughout the day, will it be too late by the time someone notices? -Who will keep the day running on schedule? Hot take: your photographer should not double as your coordinator. -Who will be responsible for working behind the scenes if any emergencies arise? -Who will tear down your decor at the end of the night? Hint: I promise your drunk bridal party and exhausted parents would prefer not to. Or you can listen to Taylor. Hire the coordinator. - #weddingplanner #wedding #michiganweddingplanner #bridesof2024 #dayofcoordinator #weddinngcoordinator #weddinginspiration #weddingday #weddingphotography #bride #eventplanner #weddingdress #weddings #love #weddingideas #weddingdecor #weddingplanning #bridetobe #destinationwedding #weddingphotographer #weddingorganizer #photography #weddinginspo #instawedding #engagement #events #bridal #luxurywedding #weddingstyle #engaged
