I’m not sure I could ever put into words how much this girl means to me. She’s been the heart and soul of our wedding business, holding everything together with such grace, kindness, and patience when 2024 threw challenges my way. While I was caring for momma and now as I navigate crazy grief, she’s the glue that held our business together with ease and unwavering dedication, all without being grumpy.

To know Katie is to love her. Not only is she the best business partner ever, but she’s one of the most kind, laidback, flexible people I know. Here’s to celebrating YOU today—your heart, your spirit, and everything you do for everyone around you.

I love you to the moon and back and so happy you’re my forever wedding date! Happiest Birthday 🩷

These women. These six women do incredibly amazing and hard things as they fight to prevent child sexual abuse.

Yesterday, we celebrated the forensic nurse exam room, a safe and beautiful space where children don’t have to go to the hospital to be examined. A place where Augusta Health forensic nurses perform trauma-informed medical exams for children who have endured abuse.

As if I didn’t already know what these women do, I listened as they explained the purpose of each of the eight survivor rooms on an educational behind the scenes tour.

It’s an honor to see them in action, to understand the profound impact they have on children, and to witness the hope they are able to offer even in the face of such unimaginable pain. They are saving lives, one family at a time.

Today is the first time we don’t get to hear your voice on your birthday. It’s a terrible feeling.

You would have liked knowing that I went to work anyway, that Gian Riley started indoor track this week and got his license today, and that I made your tapioca pudding for dessert and put it in the prettiest pink glasses in my cabinet.

I listened to your favorite songs today and read your favorite scriptures. I looked at photos and worked on celebrating you by concentrating on our happy and funny family memories. It’s just not the same.

I miss you, Momma. November 12th is always gonna be your day 🩷

I had the opportunity to photograph three incredible women who provide compassionate care, bridge the gap between healthcare and justice, and give a voice to those in vulnerable situations.

This week is Forensic Nurse Week. It wasn’t until three years ago, when I started working with , that I learned what a forensic nurse was. They are the heroes who bring compassion and expertise to those impacted by trauma and violence as they work on the frontlines of healthcare and justice.

Forensic nurses play a crucial role in:
🩺 Assisting survivors of trauma and violence
🩺 Collecting evidence and conducting medical examinations
🩺 Supporting victims of abuse and assault with dignity and respect
🩺 Support and guidance through the legal process for victims
🩺 Educating communities on violence prevention and advocacy

Momma loved Jesus. And, more than loving Him, she lived out that love. I’ve always said the best gift you can give a kid is the gift of Jesus. She gave us that gift. Jesus doesn’t make us perfect on this side of eternity, but living out a life of (and in) faith gives us a goal to work toward—kindness, generosity, joy, gratitude, and an approach to life’s ups and downs with prayer. She never stopped praying over the people she loved.

We gave Momma back to Jesus. Man it was hard, but in the end, it’s the only place she needed to be. This world of ours goes super fast and I’m gonna treasure every minute I got to spend with her these last ten months.

I love you, Momma.

Nine months with momma ❤️

Early morning coffee talks, cream of rice matching breakfasts, afternoon chocolate candy porch swing brain breaks, family fudge making adventures, watercoloring with Savanna, laughing with Gian Riley and Brent, and dreaming with me about lush gardens, colorful flower beds, what I’ve learned about theatre photography and my small business.

These nine months have been irreplaceable. You are so loved, momma.

Q: What do you get when you combine macramé, clay, plants, a love of creating?
A: A collaborative workshop by and

Over the course of four 2-hour sessions, you’ll learn how to hand-build a ceramic plant pot and then create a macramé hanger for your plant.

In the first two sessions, you will learn how to roll, texture, cut and assemble clay slabs into complete pots. In the third session, you will begin to think about the design of your macramé hanger and decorate your finished pot with glaze. In the fourth and final session, held in the beautiful upstairs classroom at Burrow & Vine on East Beverley Street, you will create the macramé hanger that will hold your completed pot.

Whether I’m photographing behind-the-scenes at American Shakespeare Center or coffee, sandwiches, and bakery treats at Crossroads Cafe & Catering, hanging out with creatives at Staunton Clayground, soap making with simoneandtuesdayllc or cheering on and supporting Valley Children's Advocacy Center and their mission, I’m loving every minute of having my camera in my hand.
