Hopefully we'll get things running again after tax season 2024. We plan on running more boston butts then for much cheaper than before on a larger smoker.

We will be taking orders for October 9th. Delivery will be around 6 PM. We will be offering our Boston Butts for $50, our three Whole Smoked chickens for $40 and our "did right" ribs for $35 for one and $60 for two.

I want to thank everyone who has prayed for me to get better, I can only take a few orders for this day and it may be two weeks or perhaps an entire month after the 9th (want to try to do some for halloween) before another order can be placed. Still trying to work with a recovering knee.

If you'd like to reserve a spot just shoot us a message. First come first served; as always Big Jake's does NOT require pre-pay; we take it on delivery. Whoever schedules first will be considered the primary customer but if they decide to cancel when we deliver, or otherwise do not respond for delivery, the next person in line will be contacted.

All of our prayers have been heard and answered! The MRI shows no major damage besides the ever-growing Arthritis, and the graft is in good shape. Those who have had meniscus/acl surgery together will know what I mean when I say it popped really hard. It took it almost two and a half weeks to pop back, and it is super scary when it happens.

I am at a crossroads for what to do. Truly, in my heart, I want to keep cooking food for everyone here in our group and locally. I had a great time at Mattress Firm in Valdosta selling our pulled pork sandwich plates, and I've had a few dozen repeat customers. This is a lot of motivation to continue doing it, despite not having everything we need to be up to code. It's a risk that businesses with no starting capital take to get running, but it's a calculated risk we are willing to take because we have faith in our ServSafe certifications, the way we clean and the fact that we use separate utensils, equipment, storage areas and transportation containers / bags to do it all with.

However, in order to do these things, it requires a level of physical movement that I am currently not able to do. I am back on my crutches still trying to build the muscle mass back so I can walk around, up and down steps, or bending over to work the smoker, etc. "Big Jake" is 6 ft 8 and weighs over 400 lbs so every move I make is magnified by my size. Being a man, and having to tell myself that "No, I'm not able to work. I need to heal. I can't do that, I'm not 17 anymore," is the hardest thing i've had to deal with.

I'm not asking for money or pity or anything like that. I'm only asking that if you took the time to read all of this and want to help our little mom n pop business stay alive while I'm going through these issues.. to please pray for us. It's because of your prayer that I am not having to have surgery again. I pray I can lose the weight I need to get to a healthy weight again. I pray that my clientel doesn't forget our delicious food and remembers that we were always there for them and that we aren't going anywhere, we're just making some "renovations" to our equipment. Or, me, the chef lol.

I really do appreciate you all, and if things go well over the next few weeks, we very well may be in a position to start selling our Ribs, chicken and boston butts again. Please support us by praying and sharing to other people who would do the same. God bless.

Sorry we left you guys all of a sudden!

I (Big Jake) twisted something or another in my knee, after an acl and meniscus surgery back in August. I want very badly to go back to cooking and it seems I may have over-exerted myself in my hard-headiness.

In short, I am very sad I won't be able to participate in Lakeland or any surrounding area's BBQ cookoffs which is a big bummer.. we wanted to bring home the gold!

We will know more once the doctor analyzes the MRI scans. We hope yall will send a prayer up or positive thoughts. We may not ever be able to have us a "traditional" kitchen but we at least want the chance to serve the community around us with good food.

Full slab ribs: 30 for one or 50 for two, southern 'sweet and smoky' style!
Whole Smoked Chickens: 35 each, comes with three LARGE halved chickens smoked slow over pecan and applewood.

WE ALSO SERVE on request casserole pans ranging from 30 to 45 dollars that include items like Lasagna, Chicken Broccoli and Rice casserole, Potatoes Au Gratin and Good ol fashioned creamy southern mac and cheese!

When we cook we ain't cussing... we are praying. We bless our food and thank the Lord for every opportunity we get because to us it's more than just making money.

Making good food is a way of life for us, and we think you'll taste the difference. Give us a shot, if you don't like it we will make it right; But I gotta say, your tastebuds have gotta be SHOT not to love our soul food!

Had a good day today, cooked for about 30 folks. They said it was good and nobody called back hollering so that's a good sign! Lol.. I'm kidding... yall think I got this big not knowing how to eat? :P

We offer super supper specials fit to feed 10 to 12 folks for only 100 each. It comes with a Boston butt, two ribs or three of our whole smoked chickens as well as two LARGE casserole pans of your choice of southern casseroles, whether it be macaroni, chicken broccoli rice casserole, au gratin or green bean casserole, our homemade bbq sauce AND 24 hawaiian sweet rolls. Now that's a dang hard deal to beat if you want REAL homemade flavors done the right way the first time..

We pride ourselves in our family recipes and use only high quality ingredients and preparation methods. We are not your typical food service.. we bring the home to homemade!

We are simple folks with a simple idea;

Take the best comfort foods from (what we think are) the best cuisines around and put them under one roof, made professionally from scratch, and in the traditional manner. We don't think it's a lot to ask for, either.

If you agree, won't you share our notion? I mean think about it.. if you could go to a single restaurant and get General Tso's chicken or Honey chicken, or heck Korean bbq ribs and good, homemade kimchi and rice or even some real Italian lasagna and manicotti.. all while still having fried chicken, macaroni and cheese and collard greens all on the same menu.. wouldn't that be "the" spot to go to when you don't know where to go eat at for supper?

Many restaurants don't do this for a number of reasons. One, of course, is food cost, prep and inventory management. Those are just big words for making every cut and pound weighed count, honestly. The same chicken that is used for chicken tenders is used for Chinese chicken and for Japanese hibachi. It boils down to the skill of the cooks in the kitchen and how well they manage their product. We like to think we are DA BOMB when it comes to these things and it's patience learned from years of cooking and seeing restaurants shoot themselves in the foot time and time again with small decisions that snowball themselves into serious issues.

Big Jake's is dedicated to making sure that our customers get the highest quality around while making sure that time, love and patience is second only to safety. We want to put down roots, and we need your help. Give us a shot and we won't let yall down. God bless
