HELLO FRIENDS!!!!

Wow, it’s been awhile! High time for an update, eh?

I (Bella) can’t believe it’s been TWO YEARS since we started putting the pieces together and building this little business! I truly feel like we’ve lived a LIFETIME since then! At the time we were pregnant with our second child; that baby is nearly 2 and our eldest is 4.5! The photos we had taken at our launch party hardly reflect the season we’re in now (I was 34 weeks pregnant when they were taken!) 😂

Last year as Samuel finished his Masters and took over as manager of , we knew that we’d need to shift the expectations we had for our coffee cart. As much as we wanted to go all in and campaign for bigger and better, we also felt the Lord leading us to trust Him with the small things; to pursue His glory over our own; to invest in our growing family as these, “the little years,” go by too quickly. Not the standard practice of building a business, but then, we’ve never been very conventional by the world’s standards! 😂

This year, our goal is to “bring the coffee shop to YOU!” This means that while we may visit Farmer’s Market every once in awhile, we want to book more private events so we can focus on serving our customers with intentionality and passion. That’s the Free Bird way! If you’re hosting a graduation party, baby shower, women’s retreat, conference, or wedding, we would LOVE to serve you and your guests! The Kingsfoil Latte::

We're big fans of J.R.R. Tolkien and his Lord of the Rings trilogy. So when we were brainstorming ideas for our signature latte, the concept of a Kingsfoil syrup came to Bella's mind. In the trilogy, Kingsfoil is the common name of a sweet herb called Athelas that Aragorn used to heal the wound Frodo received when he was stabbed by the Ring Wraiths. Later before Aragorn ascends to the throne, he spends time in the Houses of Healing, also using Athelas to heal those injured in the War of the Ring. Bella decided to use her favorite herb, basil, as the base for this drink, and makes a fresh batch of syrup every week from fresh basil grown in our garden and raw local honey. Give a Kingsfoil Latte a try- it’s great iced or hot - and it might become your new favorite!

Hey, y’all! It’s been a HOT minute! ☀️ High time for a little life and business update! ✨

We launched Free Bird Coffee Co one year ago and gave it our all last summer- serving at the Salina Farmer’s Market, multiple small business events, showers, and our first wedding! Our second baby (Juliette) was born at the end of the summer and Samuel took over management at his full time coffee gig (). He graduated this May with his Masters of Business Administration from Kansas Wesleyan University and the following week we took our first ever family vacation! Life has been crazy and busy and full of so many good things! ❤️

We’ve heard from so many of you asking when we will be at Farmer’s Market next and we’ve tried scheduling our first pop-up so many times. Unfortunately due to low staff, Samuel’s been working overtime at Blacksmith and our schedule just hasn’t opened up yet. We are SO ready to serve y’all and are tentatively planning to be at Farmer’s Market in July! 🎉

We’re so thankful to have a couple weddings on the books, and are definitely wanting to do more pop-ups later this summer and early Fall. Stay tuned! 🥰

Merry Christmas from us, the Finches of Free Bird Coffee Co. 🌲

We are so thankful to be celebrating the birth of our Savior! Jesus is the reason for everything we do, and we exist to bring Him glory. We stepped out in faith and started Free Bird this year and we’ve been blown away by God’s faithfulness to us. We’ve met so many great people, served up lots of good coffee, made some mistakes, and learned a lot! We’re looking forward to another great year of doing what we love - serving our community by serving up great coffee!

Meet Samuel- our Founder and Barista! He's the one pulling espresso and pouring gorgeous latte art! Samuel's been working in the coffee industry for nearly a decade; it's his passion and art. His attention to detail and high standards for every drink he pours are integral to the core of our business. Samuel works full time as Head Roaster and General Manager of Blacksmith Coffee in Lindsborg, KS, and he is also finishing up his MBA. Samuel loves to read and has recently taken up woodcarving. He is also the best husband to Bella and Daddy to Jack and Juliette!

Hey, y'all! I'm Bella, one half of our husband-wife operated coffee cart. I manage our social media pages and I'm the Event Coordinator for all of our big events. I'm a major people person and I love meeting new friends! My favorite drink is the Kingsfoil latte, and I make a fresh batch of the honey + basil syrup for every event. I'm full-time Mom to Jack and Juliette, and I love Jesus, reading books and all things homemaking.
