In 2009, I filmd my triplets' Kindergarten class deliver Nativity Elementary School's food donations to FILL THE DOME. Since that time - 14 years later - the national statistics have changed very little and the need still remains great. Perhaps this Christmas, instead of filling the bottom bough of our Christmas trees, we donate to our area local food banks. It may be the greatest gift your family - and theirs - receives.

Post Note: All of these "children" in this video are now adults.

For those 2022 parents who couldn't make January 19th Buddy Beer Club, we quickly passed a cup and collected loose change and bills for the STICK IT TO CANCER fundraiser through Lend A Hand Up, on behalf of the Shanley Class of 2022. In a matter of 5 minutes, we collected $181 from those who were present! Now imagine when we gather again on Thursday, April 20 and we have many more present... What could we do to promote a worthy cause on behalf of the Shanley Class of 2022?

There is a $25 Frank's gift certificate for the Ugly Christmas Sweater drawing - bring them back out and wear one and your name is entered into the drawing! I challenge all to beat Jason Jaeger's Ugly Christmas Sweater!

In spite of fall hunting season and multiple sports, there was a very nice turnout for last night's Class of 2022 Alumni Buddy Beer Club as we watched the Shanley Deacons chalk up another win for the football season. Thanks to all who showed up and I apologize I didn't get a pic of everyone attending - people were coming and going and the Deacons were scoring every two minutes. Congrats to Greg Burd and Kim Douglas for being the evening's winners of a Frank's Lounge gift card!

Members of the Alumni Shanley Class of 2022 Buddy Beer Club:

On September 8 I posted that the parents of the Class of 2022 would be gathering on Thursday, Oct. 20, for one of the four-times-a-year BUDDY BEER CLUB events. Since that posting, I was informed by parents in the class that the present Shanley football team will be hosting Bismarck St. Mary's. In my defense, our alumni gathering schedule was set back in May 2022...

That aside, I would like to provide the following alternative:

On Thursday, October 20 at 5 pm we will be gathering at Frank's Lounge [2640 52nd Avenue South, Fargo] and celebrating our children. As part of our celebration, I encourage you to wear your son's/daughter's college/military/vocational wear so that we can take a group picture and share it with all the classmates/parents of the Shanley Class of 2022.

For those parents who will be attending the Shanley football game, come immediately at 5:00 pm (in your son's/daughter's college/military/vocational wear) and we will take a group picture promptly at 5:15 pm. You can celebrate one libation and be on your way to the game! Those remaining at Frank's Lounge, I will do my best to get the game (ShanleyTV) on one of the screens or on the laptop I will bring.

For those parents who can't be with us at 5:15 pm for the group photo, I will take another photo around 9:30 pm, following the Shanley-St. Mary's game, so be sure to come over for some post-game celebration. SO BE SURE TO JOIN FOR US FOR LAUGHS AND LIFE!

Parents of the Shanley Class of 2022: I spent the winter of 2021-22 prepping the opening video for the 2022 Shanley Deacon Dinner Auction (my very last production). In the late fall of 2021, I had every intention of bringing the entire Class of 2022 onto the floor of the Sid Cichy stadium and incorporate that footage into the opening video of the 2022 dinner auction. Unfortunately, North Dakota fall high winds kept pushing the date back for the filming until the Wednesday before Thanksgiving 2021, when school was out for break... it was brisk, the winds were high and the class attendance was lean due to those Seniors traveling for the holiday break.

Following the filming of this raw footage shot on 11.20.21, it was decided later the dinner auction opening video would take a different direction and this footage was not to be seen... until now. Enjoy.

Shanley Parents of the Class of 2022:

There is so much water under the bridge since May... we have each watched our son/daughter head off for his/her next Life adventure. Some of us are busy with getting our latest child off to their next Life step while still addressing our other child(ren) in their school activities. And for many of us, it's our last child(ren) out of high school and to a larger Life...

And it's going to be soon for us, as the Parents of the Shanley Class of 2022, to gather together to check in, share about our child(ren), and more importantly, share about our own personal adventures and journeys.

On Thursday, October 20 at 5 pm we will be gathering at Frank's Lounge [2640 52nd Avenue South, Fargo] and celebrating our children. The free-will offering passed around at the adult venue of the Post-Graduation Party on Wednesday night brought in another $217, bringing the grand total to $1335.70 that will be donated to the Shanley Athletics Club at their next meeting in memory of Russ, Heidi and Faith. THANK YOU SENIOR PARENTS FOR YOUR GENEROSITY!

It's official. Our 2022 Buddy Beer Club raised approximately $1116.70 (give or take a few nickels) in memory of 2022 parents Russ Boyle, Heidi Frie and Faith Heizelman. These funds will be turned over to the Shanley Athletics Club (SAC) in June. Thank you to all those that attended our monthly gatherings, put your name in the monthly drawings, laughed and cheered each other along and gave up your funds/loose change to add to this donation!

Amidst nasty spring weather, backed-up sporting events, planning for Senior graduation receptions and college selection/registration, is was amazing to have so many fellow parents attend our second-to-last BUDDY BEER CLUB last night. Thank you to all in attendance and congratulations to Greg Burd for winning the $25 Frank's Lounge gift card drawing!

For all 2022 Senior parents, be sure to join us for our very last BUDDY BEER CLUB in this wonderful yearlong series that will occur at 5:00 pm on Thursday, May 19... just 6 days from our children's graduation.

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY! As of today, we are in the final 100-day countdown until our children's commencement!

Take some time out from your busy week this week and join us this Thursday (Feb. 17) at 5:00 pm at Frank's Lounge for the monthly BUDDY BEER CLUB. There are only four remaining events so we hope you can join us!

Before leaving home or exiting your car to enter Frank's Lounge, be sure to pick up all spare change you have lying around... I will be collecting all spare change at each of our gatherings to add to our ongoing class total donation to SAC (Shanley Athletic Club) in memory of our fellow parent Russ Boyle.

A very Merry Christmas to the Class of 2022 students and families! We hope you were able to join us for the Class of 2022 Buddy Beer Club in 2021... and if not, there are five more gatherings left before our students graduate from Shanley! A quick FYI: Through the sales of the light-up Buddy Beer Club mugs and personal change collection, we have raised just over $600 to donate to the Shanley Athletic Club in memory of our fellow parent Russ Boyle. Safe travels over the holidays and we hope to see you on Thursday, January 20 in the year 2022!

Parents of the Class of 2022:

We have much to be thankful for this season, most especially that we still have 189 DAYS UNTIL THE CLASS OF 2022 GRADUATION (as of this Wednesday).

A reminder that this Wednesday's Buddy Beer Club Gathering is the 6TH (halfway point) of only twelve monthly BUDDY BEER CLUB meetings remaining for the Parents of the Class of 2022.

DETAILS

WHERE: Wednesday, November 17 - Starting at 5:00 PM at Frank's Lounge and until the last parent leaves. Please note the date change as many parents and fans are heading to the State Volleyball Tournament in Bismarck on this Thursday morning (Deacons match up against Legacy at 7:00 pm in the first round).

WHAT: In 2020, 2022 parents Russ Boyle, Lee Hoedl and a small group of Class of 2022 fathers had the idea of gathering the parents of the Class of 2022 - initiated as the Buddy Beer Club - to celebrate our class camaraderie... the rest is history.

At each gathering (while supplies last), you can still purchase a $10 BUDDY BEER CLUB commemorative light-up mug at the event and all proceeds from these sales will go to the Shanley Athletic Club (SAC) as a donation from the Class of 2022, in memory of our dear 2022 parent/friend Russ Boyle. Take it home, light it up Deacon Red, and use it often to remind you of this special class of students.

When you arrive, tell the wait staff that you are associated with Shanley and $1 of the cost you pay for your first drink (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) will be donated to the Shanley Athletic Club automatically.

Also, as an added initiative, a BUDDY BEER CLUB mug will be be passed around all guests in attendance and all spare change and $1 bills will be collected at each gathering to add to this total amount, so be sure to bring some from home to share - a little bit of "change" can make a big difference! We have already raised in excess of $500 in our first five gatherings.

BONUS: A $25 Hornbachers gift card will be this event's FREE raffle drawing for those in attendance - just enter your name. You need to be present to win for this week's drawing. The drawing usually occurs around 6:00 pm. The $25 will come in handy for Thanksgiving groceries!
