Grab your mom, sister or friends, or have a mama and me time. There’s coffee and donuts (for the early birds) … and a drawing!

{The girls are anticipating, occupying toddlers or babies, if needed.}

Bring your own vase, or purchase one here.

The ‘build your own bouquet’ means flowers have been cut, and are waiting for you to arrange. We won’t be walking around in the garden, so most any shoes will work just fine.

We have snips here to share, but if you prefer not to share, feel free to bring your own.

We’re welcoming you to the farm, for a come and go ‘Build-Your-Own-Bouquet Bar’ on Saturday, June 17, 8:00-11:00am.
It will include Peonies and whatever else nature has in bloom next week, with Peonies as the primary focus.
Children are welcome, so bring the kiddos for a fun mama & me/family time, or grab your mom & sisters, co workers, or your girlfriends and let your creativity flow.
*We will have simple floral options for younger children if they have the interest… or they’re welcome to play within your eye sight.

This is a rain or shine event, and will be hosted here on the farm, either under a roof or in the yard, weather dependent.

Cost:
$10+ however big you want to go.💐
*You may bring your own vase, or I’ll have mason jars and a few vases, available for purchase with your floral design.

The stand is lacking a little color, as well as the yard .. ☀️☀️☀️ -But this sunshine has been so wonderful … The watering game has been real though, and the forecast is looking Crispy & Crunchy … {~dry and sunny.}

The flower stand is now closed for the ‘2023 Peony season.’ … However, the harvest was exceptional for our first year back up in production. With the overflow of blooms coming in, I was able to tuck a bunch of peonies into cold storage to use over the next several weeks. Contact me via messenger, for any needs/wants you may have regarding peonies, {a day or more in advance, please.}

Something I hear a lot this time of year is … “I love peonies, my grandma used to grow them!” … I enjoy hearing this and the stories that follow … 🥰
Peonies bring fond memories of my grandma as well.
My grandparents had a really unique driveway situation … They had a railroad crossing in their driveway and every spring when we would turn into Grandma & Granpa’s place we would cross over the railroad, and just beyond the crossing we were greeted with a line of peonies along the side of the drive, before reaching their home. Such a beautiful and welcoming sight.
As I child, never did I imagine, I would get to have a small field, filled with these bushes to share with others. 🤗

Peaches and pears from our backyard … it’s not a big bountiful harvest, but definitely enough to inspire me to implement a better care plan for the orchard next year.

This poor little dahlia tuber was a result of good intentions not followed through.
Last year I dug up the dahlias … and then they sort of just sat in buckets, with intentions of washing and dividing later and thats as far as I got with them, until spring. 😳 oops.
By spring most of them were either shriveled up pretty bad or extremely shriveled … with just a few at the bottom, that didn’t look terrible. I was sure they were a loss and I would be tossing them out… until just a few weeks ago… I noticed a green shoot coming off of one of them. 😲 What?!?!
So today I planted all that had a green sprout coming out of them … and they mostly looked like this poor tiny shriveled piece of matter... But I saved 20 tubers like this …. we’ll see how this turns out in a few months.

Here’s just one example on how resilient Peonies can be …

This shoot was growing in our new veggie garden area, where we removed the peony roots in the fall of ‘20. My husband then tilled the area with a tractor tiller {not just the little walk behind garden tiller.} Last season the space this shoot was growing in, was our pumpkin patch covered with w**d fabric, and we never saw the shoot. After the pumpkins came out, I removed the w**d fabric, tilled the soil, for at least the 4th time since we had removed the peonies from this space.
I threw down cover crop and let it go.
This spring this shoot was proudly standing tall after being totally abused. I dug carefully, because I was pretty confident the root was not big and sturdy after all that abuse. Look at that beat up piece of root. 👀 I mean … The resilience in this root is amazing. It looks like it should be dead, and yet it is determined to bring joy to the eyes willing to see the beauty in the mess.

This weeks focus for our girls weekly devotional is… you guessed it! Resilience … “Resilience” is getting back up when something gets you down.” Matthew 28:19-20

Where can you and I grow more resilient to better ourselves and those around us?
