’Build your own bouquet’ day is HERE!
Yay!!🎉🎉🎉
Grab your mom, sister or friends, or have a mama and me time. There’s coffee and donuts (for the early birds) … and a drawing!
{The girls are anticipating, occupying toddlers or babies, if needed.}
Bring your own vase, or purchase one here.
The ‘build your own bouquet’ means flowers have been cut, and are waiting for you to arrange. We won’t be walking around in the garden, so most any shoes will work just fine.
We have snips here to share, but if you prefer not to share, feel free to bring your own.
~Video is only of the fillers, Peonies are gonna be out too, and they are next in line of attention.💐
{Bathrooms are not conveniently located. Plan accordingly.}
Open: 8-11am

Last week one of the girls and I were walking the peony field ... and we noticed a big swollen bud, that we had missed plucking. She looked at me with a big questioning grin ... Backing up a bit, Last year we dug up the entire field of over 400 hundred peony plants, added ground cover fabric to help with weed control and this spring we’ve been plucking the buds off of the newly transplanted roots to help build a better root system more quickly. I asked her “do you want to pluck it, or leave this one to bloom?” Her smile immediately grew bigger and she jumped a bit with joy ... “I want to let this one bloom.” So we sacrificed this one plant for a single 2021 peony bloom (from the field) and it was totally worth it ... the delicate soft pink, with a white tint mixed in and fading into the softest yellow in the center ... and THE SMELL. The smell is amazing. A great big inspiration to keep putting in all the hard work to tend the field in a year even without the beautiful blooms. I’m so glad she said “let it bloom.”
Ps ... this week has been busier then the average busy of springtime in the garden ... my father-in-law has been battling some big health issues and we’ve been involved where we can ... and therefore I did not keep my stories going on last years blooms, as intended. I plan to add more peony stories this week. Sometimes life gives you a punch or twist ... and I’m slowly learning how to work with the twists and how to be gracious and give grace, in a jam packed busy life of littles and long lists of farm chores ... I love it (not every minute, but overall) ... and I’m open to ideas on how to make flower farming and animal chores more efficient and less time consuming .. and new/ fresh ideas to keep the kids interested. 🙂
