Admittedly, a guilty pleasure. I'd forgotten how badass Carmine Appice is/was. A real showman drummer at the time, second only to maybe Dino Danelli of The Rascals. Both drummer heroes of mine and a kid. I love the way he does a full-arm cymbal choke.

The song and album were produced by producer-songwriter Shadow Morton who worked with such diverse artists as The Shangri-las and Janis Ian including her first big hit, Society's Child.

Songlines that got me! Sometimes there are lyrics and lines in songs that just really moved me, often to the point of goosebumps or butterflies. I actually felt/feel something.

They're not all profound, and it's totally subjective and may not move you.

This time it's Raspberries featuring the late Eric Carmen. His recent passing caused me to revisit this piece of pure Power Pop.

It was the line in the middle 8 of their 1972 hit Go All The Way:
"Before her love I was cruel and mean
There was a hole in the place where my heart should have been"

Check out this video of it live in a 2007 reunion concert. They still pretty much nail it all those years later. And yeah, I got a flashback of goosebumps when they got to that line.
