You know, I had this cute audio in mind but then while editing this video for a reel bit then I just really enjoyed the crispness of the sound in this, so I present to you, an ASMR unpacking of the art store haul today. At the Artist and Craftsman Supply store I found the Golden paints I needed to restock 30% off (yay!) And one new color to experiment with (Violet Oxide). At Blick I picked up the canvas for the wedding next week and a great book on perspective. I also grabbed 2 new mediums to work with and wire kits for hanging canvases. It was a good haul!
I love golden brand paints! So glad I invested in my work and upgraded to these last year. The pigments are so rich. These are my favorite skin tone mixing pigments. What are your go to colors when mixing up skin tones?

Live wedding painting is such a blast, for me and for your guests. Promise, you will not regret it! I met so many friendly individuals last night at Annie and Noah's wedding including some young and budding artists. It's so exciting to now be in a space to show kids it is possible to find a career focusing on your passion. I love how guests will come visit throughout the evening to see the progress! Want to see the reality of living with an artist? My husband will tell you, it's dirty paint water cups all over the house, paint brushes on the table, a chaotic explosion of supplies and crusty but colorful paper towels wadded up in every room. I recognize I'm a lot, I'm a mess! But it's also important to recognize that as an artist, you don't have to have that instagram photo beautiful clean studio space. Its ok to have half way done pieces and the byproducts of your effort left on the table. You tried! You've been working and it shows. Give yourself some grace! REMINDER: We all have to grow and evolve. My growth recently has been realizing... Just because you *can* do something doesn’t mean you have to. For me? This means learning to set boundaries, understand that while yes I can stay up till 2 AM painting, it comes with the sacrifice of sleep the next day and asking myself, is that sacrifice and formation of a habit worth it? For so long I have worked at a corporate job where I've expected myself to give every scrap of time and energy, every open night or weekend when I'm needed to my job, no matter how tired or overworked or stressed I am, and regardless of the PTO bank I'd built up! But now I know that just because I can do that, doesn’t mean I should, or that I have to. Instead, I'm learning to set boundaries, to say no to others- and more importantly- myself when I can tell that I'm about to cross a boundary without a clear benefit or payoff. Of course I will always be a giving person, one who jumps in and volunteers, but i give myself permission to say know when its just not right for me, for my own self care. Whether that be no, I am not available for the extra shift, or no, Nicole, you aren't staying up late, you're going to sleep so you can be a better you tomorrow- its a boundary I'm learning to accept and respect. I’m curious, what is the thing that you are learning to say no to or know that doesn’t serve you?
