So many homies were out at the Wu-Tang Clan concert last night. Everywhere I went, I ran into a familiar face and linked up with friends and family. It was super dope to see the Sacramento Hip-hop community out in full force. It really felt like the golden era all over again. Who knew that a group of emcees from San Francisco would reignite my love for Sacramento Hip-hop?! Last night, Bored Stiff did exactly that with their documentary film Sounds Like My Life.

Coming up in the scene I always heard about Bored Stiff but I never really deep dived into their music the way I should have. Sure, throughout my own career I shared stages and rocked shows with this legendary crew of emcees numerous times but I had never taken the time to truly appreciate them until last night.

Their film captures so much history not only their journey as a crew but also key moments in Bay Area and California Hip-hop culture. The Stiff are icons, legends, and keepers of the culture. So much so that they brought out many of my city’s artists to support in a way I haven’t seen in a very long time.

If you get the chance I highly recommend checking out Sounds Like My Life: The Story of Bored Stiff and keep real Hip-hop alive.

With a lot of these vinyl bars providing rotary mixers, I feel like I should really get comfortable and experienced using them. I want to learn the ins and outs of that style of mixing so I can push the boundaries and do some creative s**t behind the decks when I’m in those spaces.

I’ve been thinking about picking up a rotary mixer for the house so I can practice. A few have caught my eye. Some are more affordable and some are outrageously priced but either way I’m seriously considering it.

These are the ones I’ve been looking at so far but maybe I’m sleeping on something. What do you recommend?

Yesterday was a vibe!
Big shoutout to my bro Jason Gulley, owner of , for putting together an unofficial DJ meet-up out in Modesto, CA. DJs from all over Northern California pulled up — club DJs, bedroom DJs, turntablists, radio DJs, battle DJs, vinyl heads… the whole squad showed out.

The community really came together and showed nothing but love and support. Friends, family, DJs, and music lovers all in the building, holding it down and making it special.

We even streamed the event live on Twitch from 1 to 5 PM and the Twitch fam came through heavy with the love! Hopefully next time we can make this link-up official.

Appreciate everyone who tapped in and helped make it happen — let’s run it back soon!
