sharing: Dear Friends,
Today is Heal The Music Day, and this year, the need is greater than ever. We’re launching not just a day, but an entire season of giving, and I’m reaching out with a heartfelt request: please consider making a donation today, tomorrow, after the election, or as part of your year-end giving. We need you now more than ever. Yes, these are challenging times—the world feels uncertain, and the future can seem overwhelming. But even in the face of all this, we have the power to offer something truly invaluable: hope.
In the music industry, where fame often masks real financial struggles, the reality for many is far from glamorous. Shockingly, 76% of the music community is either self-employed or part of a small business, often unable to access affordable healthcare. That’s why Heal The Music Day—originally the vision of the legendary Rodney Crowell—exists: to rally behind those who dedicate their lives to creating the music that moves us.
It doesn’t have to be this way. Every day, Music Health Alliance walks alongside artists, songwriters, musicians, and the hardworking people behind the scenes, guiding them through unimaginable health challenges. Thanks to your support over the past decade, we’ve helped thousands gain access to life-saving transplants, vital medications, essential mental health services, compassionate end-of-life care, and so much more.
But the work isn’t done. In the last 10 years, we’ve saved the music industry an astounding $127 million in healthcare costs, helping over 25,000 music professionals. In just the last two years, we’ve provided over 6,000 critical mental health counseling sessions and psychiatric services. We've created the first-ever dedicated dental fund to assist with urgent dental needs and launched a pioneering senior care fund. We’re also proud to serve as vital second responders, offering healthcare support during and after crises—from Route 91 to the pandemic, and the devastation caused by hurricanes. We make sure that when disaster strikes, the music community has access to the care they need for the long haul.
And here’s where your generosity comes in: for every dollar donated, we can provide $30 in life-saving healthcare resources. Just imagine—the difference you can make with even the smallest contribution. Every dollar means someone gets the medication they need. Every dollar means a family stays whole, spared from the crushing weight of medical debt.
So, I’m asking you, as someone who loves music, as someone who understands the power of community, to join us. Whether you’re part of the industry or a passionate lover of music, you have the ability to make a profound difference. No one in this incredible industry should ever have to choose between feeding their family and getting the care they need. Your donation—no matter the size—provides hope. And hope is a powerful medicine. Together, we can and ensure this community remains healthy, strong, and thriving.
From all of us at Music Health Alliance, thank you for believing in and supporting our mission.
With gratitude and hope,
Tatum
