Have you been wanting to come out to the farm? Now’s the time! This will be the last weekend to attend the u-cut at the farm. ✂️ ⏰ Hours: 9am-7pm 📍 Location: 23 Harrison st, Bay Center Cost: $25
I woke up today feeling a bit overwhelmed about all the Autumn tasks coming up, so I got a jump start on labeling the dahlias. 😜 It was actually really nice to do this now and not when it’s all wet and cold outside! Once I start digging up the dahlias ( typically end of October) I will have an idea of how many and what tubers I will have for sale! Tmw I’m going back to my typical summer schedule and reminding myself to soak in these last couple weeks of summer! ☀️
How is it already week 9 of the Flowers CSA!? This season has gone by so fast. Glad we still have 3 weeks left because I have so many more flowers I want to share with you all! 😍 There is a lot more to the process of getting these blooms to you and I’ll keep posting more behind the scenes for you. A very important part of our process is the “resting” in the cooler. I try to harvest flowers as early as possible. The morning as are when they are the most hydrated and will survive the cut much longer. Once they are cut they go into what I call “resting.” Typically in the cooler (some varieties don’t like cold temps) The reason for doing this is that rapid cooling removes field heat gives them time to retain food/water. This also them to slow down their aging process and improve the quality by preventing dropping, reducing discoloration and help retain their scent. Fun fact for the day!
Are you interested in growing your own cut flowers next season?! I will be offering a farmer-florist workshop on the farm September 20th from 6-8. We will chat growing, harvest and caring for flowers. Do a farm tour, floral design demonstration and design and arrangement to take home! 🩷 Tickets are available on my website. Www.rhodesiaflower.com. There will only be 10 spots available and no experience is necessary!

A mini birthday getaway to Mt.Rainer last night and back home within 24 hours to harvest for tmw flower csa. A little reminder that you can still take a break from work and you don’t even have to go that far. We live so close to some of the most breathtaking places. 🤍
When I pulled up to set up today’s wedding I noticed they had the most beautiful flower garden & dahlia patch. The gals inside the barn had buckets of flowers surrounding them as they were designing the centerpieces. It made my heart melt. I love seeing people grow their own flowers and to share the experience of harvesting and designing together is so special. I had the honor of designing the wedding party and the arbor statements. 🤍
I’ve been wanting to do a farmstand here is Bay Center for awhile now but haven’t gotten to it because I felt like I needed to build a stand/find a place on the main road, etc. Then I just decided I would put up my pop up tent here at the garden and try it out! My hope is to provide more access to the flowers from the farm and also at great price! So the FARMSTAND :) is open this weekend. It sits under a yellow tent on the left hand corner of the garden. I will stock it up as needed 🩷💐
