Congratulations to Mike and Ben on their December wedding at The Gastonian, Historic Inns of Savannah! I have been shooting at The Gastonian for many years and it still reigns as my favorite wedding venue. Such great people and a beautiful, historic space. These two were so much fun to photograph and their guests were dressed to the nines. I also got to see A Wedding with Rev. Schulte, which is always great

I am having an emotional morning. In 2022, I was nominated for Best Photographer by the Savannah Morning News. I was told that I was a finalist in the Top 3, and that the winner would be announced at a red carpet event. As awesome as that is, you guys know me--a red carpet... no way, haha. I figured I would be told if I won, so I assumed I didn't, especially considering the amazing other photographers in the category. I meant to get a copy of the paper with the winner's list but never did.
This morning I got an email.
I won.
My first thought was "what?!"
My second thought was "I wish my dad could see this." And then the tears flowed.
I started photography only a couple of years before he passed. He was so proud of me even then, but imagining him reading the paper and seeing my name, man. I wish I could see his smile.
I am very excited to tell Emma, thankful for the way Ryan held me while I cried and told me that my dad knows and sees, and so beyond grateful for all of you guys. I know I'm a broken record saying how much I appreciate all of your support and business, but it is true. My heart is so happy. I truly love what I do. Not a day goes by that I don't feel gratitude. Thank you!! ❤️

Yesterday I photographed two families at a beautiful house on the water in Richmond Hill. If you have done a session with me, you know how excited I get for good light (and how bummed I get for no light!), and this light was AMAZING! I love portraits of kids like this, where they are a little uncomfortable being alone in front of the camera and all they really want to do is laugh, which is so welcomed. Good light, happy photographer ❤
