These have been all over the place on recent outings, I found out they are called "Fox Gloves" 🍄 These are from a trip out to the black diamond camp site from a few weeks ago - Just love the cloudy moody weather we had that trip 🌲🍃

📸Finally updated the site and made some changes including...

adding a nature section since I'm constantly hiking and exploring; searching for shrooms, waterfalls and peaks. I really enjoy documenting the views and finds, there is so much to see in Washington alone 🌲

Also updated the cosplay photos , portraits and wedding photos displays to feature more recent work📸

I also got more photo storage since I have so many sessions and shots that I want to keep the raw files for edits later on 📽️

As much as I love portraits I have really been drawn to landscapes lately!

These breathtaking photos were captured from an off-the-grid cabin near Leavenworth, WA, during a summer trip with friends. Enjoy the stunning views of the surrounding areas and peaks! 📸🌲
Mount Baker stands tall as the 3rd highest summit in Washington State and the iciest mountain in the Cascade Range. With over 100 square kilometers of glaciers and permanent snow fields, it boasts incredible annual snowfall, even setting a world record of 28.9 meters in 1998-99!

While hiking the Whittaker Loop Trail, I made the mistake of not bringing my tripod because I was worried about the extra weight. Lesson learned – I would have captured much better water shots with it than handheld. Still, I managed to get a few shots that I like. Here are some small waterfalls I found off the trail.

Unfortunately, my batteries died before I could reach the top, teaching me another lesson about battery preservation and preparation. Despite this, the hike was about 4 miles roundtrip with a good elevation gain. There were only a handful of folks on this rainy day, making it a peaceful adventure.

Stay tuned for my vlog post covering the hike, coming soon to my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChrrAkZ6Kg5WHlrLcx6DXdA. I'll be posting all the trails and mushroom footage there!

🍄 Mystery Solved in the Pacific Northwest! 🕵️‍♂️ Last March, amidst the verdant trails of King County Natural Area in Renton, WA, I stumbled upon what I believe is the majestic Fomitopsis pinicola, also known as the Red-Belted Conk. 🌈✨

Here’s why this find is fascinating:

Hosts: This champ of a fungus doesn’t play favorites; it thrives on almost all conifers across western Washington, turning deadwood into art. 🎨
Distribution: It's not just a local celebrity; the Red-Belted Conk is renowned throughout the Northwest for its striking presence. 🌎
Ecological Role: Ever wonder who kicks off the decomposition rave in the forest? This fungus steps up as one of the first to colonize dead or dying trees, making it a key player in our forest's ecology. 🌿🔥
Found in the lush, mossy trails of Renton March 2024, this discovery adds a touch of mystery and majesty to our local trails. Next time you're in the area, keep your eyes peeled for this ecological powerhouse - who knows what wonders you'll find?

Part 2 of the Lake Desire trails in Renton, WA, led to some unexpected discoveries high up in the trees and far from the beaten paths. 🌲✨ I was lucky to spot several instances of Fomes fomentarius, more intriguingly known as Tinder fungus, tinder polypore, or even Iceman fungus. This fascinating species thrives on hardwood trees in northern regions, offering a glimpse into nature's resilience and wonders.

The first three were a challenge to spot, nestled high and away from any trails, a testament to the undisturbed beauty of the area. The fourth find left me puzzled - could it be another mushroom variant, or perhaps something else entirely? 🍄

Adding to the day's marvels were sightings of fallen trees at spots 5 and 6, each with its own unique story etched into its timeworn bark and twisted forms. Nature’s artistry at its finest.

Have you ever come across the enduring Fomes fomentarius or any other remarkable fungi on your treks? Share your stories or guesses on the mysterious #4 in the comments below!"

Took a nice trip middle of March out to Spring Park/Lake Desire area and came upon some fascinating shelved-type mushrooms. 🍄 After a quick Google search, I discovered they're actually a type of carnivorous oyster mushroom called "Pleurotus Pulmonarius"—marking my first documented Mushroom find.

Also spotted: a sneaky snake slithering by and a cool momento left behind on a mossy rock, adding a touch of mystery to the journey. 🐍✨

Have you ever encountered something unexpected on your adventures? I'd love to hear about it below!"
