Happy Winter Solstice! It felt appropriate to re-post Steph & Trevor’s elopement up at St Helens from a few years back. My camera froze this day in -20 weather and my toes are still thawing out. Still one of the best experiences of my career! ❄️

2024 Christmas Cookie theme is here: A Celtic Christmas 🎄🇮🇪
This year’s theme took an unexpected turn just two weeks ago. Originally, I had planned for a neutral palette of beige and spruce, but everything changed when I saw Pantone’s ick color of the year. It didn’t resonate with me, so I pivoted to something more personal and meaningful. Reflecting on my year, I found inspiration in a cherished memory: my trip to Ireland with my mom.

It was a dream come true, and I can hardly believe it’s already in the past! Instead of going with muted tones, I chose colors inspired by that magical trip: the deep green of the trees surrounding Blarney Castle, where we overcame our fear of heights; gold, symbolizing the ancient jewelry in Dublin’s museums; white, reflecting the innocence of a childhood dream; warm cream, reminiscent of my mom’s equally warm hugs; red, capturing the spirit of the season; and gold luster dust, inspired by the intricate beauty of the Book of Kells I saw on my first trip to Ireland.

The Castle, Harp, St. Brigid’s Cross, and sheep shapes were all hand-cut since I didn’t have time to source cookie cutters. These cookies ended up being the most meaningful and detailed I’ve ever made—about 10 hours of work from start to finish.

I don’t think it comes as any surprise when I say that snow days are some of my favorite days. So many of my happiest memories were when our house turned into a winter wonderland! Making snow forts and snow angels, throwing snowballs, and getting delightfully chilled to the bone before kicking off our snow boots to go inside to hot cocoa and vegetable beef soup made by my mom ❄️

One particular memory was going outside after bedtime as a family and doing the most energetic snowball fight in the dark with only a few house lights glowing through the snowflakes. Truly thankful that many of our memories were captured on film by my parents which you can see in these slides. It’s a tradition I’ve continued myself!

It’s no secret that Golden hour is my favorite time of the day. The way it encircles my couples, bathing them in the most romantic light always takes my breath away! Want to know how to plan for your big day? Read on for a few tips:

✨ 1. Plan your timeline: Work with your photographer​ and wedding planner to schedule​e​ a moment to sneak away during this brief but beautiful window. ​All you need is about 10 minutes before the sun sets before it slips beyond the horizon. Timing is everything!

✨ 2. Pick the perfect spot: ​Flat, open spaces like meadows, beaches, or hilltops work best for catching that golden glow.​ Newcastle Golf Club is perfect for golden hour!

✨ 3. Try backlit magic: ​Face the camera with the sun behind you for the best sunset glow effect. The bonus is that you won’t be squinting in bright sunlight.

✨ 4. Add movement: Walk hand in hand, spin, or laugh together to ​a​dd a dramatic, cinematic feel ​t​o your photos.​ Be EXTRA and it will show in the best way!

✨ 5. Trust your pro: Your photographer​ (hello it’s me you’re looking for) knows how to maximize t​​his time of the day. If you adore this lighting as much as I do, make it a priority to get it on the timeline. These will likely be your favorite photos from the day!

I’m continuing my quest (see what I did there?) to photograph cinematic moments that feel like they belong in an epic movie, and Lydia & Paul’s engagement session was all that and more. Mountains? Check. Pine trees? Check. Waterfalls? Check. A couple who felt like kindred spirits that had a truly incredible connection to the location? Double check! Ladies and gentlemen, the best double exposure (on film!) I’ve ever done. I had a vision in my head of a crown, made from the ancient stones of a crumbling castle, perched on the brow of my couple at dawn in the morning light.
The vision was made a reality when I got my film back from and saw what I created. It’s art, pure and simple and I adore it ✨

I’m beyond grateful and excited to announce the 3rd annual ‘Thankful’ sessions! These sessions hold a special place in my heart because they allow me to give back to the community that has supported me throughout the past 14 years. Photography is so much more than just images; it’s about capturing stories that mean the world to us.

It’s the joy of welcoming a new baby. It’s the first family portrait after years of waiting. It’s the precious memory of a grandparent whose time with us is fleeting. These are the moments that truly matter, and being able to offer my services free of charge for couples and families going through tough times, facing financial struggles, or simply in need of a reason to smile fills me with so much purpose.
