There’s a certain magic in deciding whether to do a first look or not. ✨
Some couples treasure the calm of meeting before the ceremony, while others hold onto the long tradition of that aisle moment.

If you’re on the fence, remember there are beautiful in-between options too: exchanging letters, gifting something meaningful, or sharing a fleeting touch before the ceremony.

Whatever path you choose, remember the reason that neither choice is wrong - it’s all about what feels most natural, the most you two 💚

This post is long overdue but I’m finally sharing photos (and a few video) from our last Kindred meetup, Kindred Spirit Fall Fete. This was a whirlwind of a gathering, quite literally. We had gale-force winds that whipped through the region, knocking out power to .

Rachel and I rallied and kept the gathering going full steam ahead, making alternative plans just in case the power was still out later in the day. I arrived early and together Rachel and I created this beautiful display that you see here, foraged from both her and my gardens. provided the gorgeous runner that she had-wove m herself. Attendees came away with a very-Anne of Green Gables letterpress quote and flower seeds from Rachel’s garden as a keepsake!

Once night fell, it was something out of a dream with the candles providing the warmest, cheerful light for our rather windy affair. Thankful to all the ladies who brought good food and good cheer ✨

Throwing back to these sweet, quiet moments from Pam and Angela’s wedding. You would have never known that the skies had opened up to a deluge throughout the day, yet we persevered and waited for the opportunity to dash back outside for portraits. Well worth it, wouldn’t you say? Angela & Pam were a vision together.

Slide No. 6: Their puppies!!! I’m not typically a dog-person, but I love dachshunds and these two were so stinking cute with their little flower collars!

The finale
Ch 4: les funérailles (the funeral)

Ladies and gentlemen, we’ve come to the end of our story. But, plot twist, not the end of her story…

As our heroine’s decent into madness comes to a head, a phrase springs to mind. “Memento mori”, remember death. She has experienced an ego death, and has been transformed and liberated.

Life is for living, and the only way to live life to the fullest is by being entirely true to oneself.

Free from the shackles of what is expected from her, our heroine is now empowered by her so called “madness”. Knowing that is a gift to feel so deeply and to be so passionate about so many things.

May her former self rest in peace, for she has been reborn a more powerful and evolved woman.

HUGE thanks to for being such a brilliant creative to help bring our vision to life! What will we do next? Stay tuned!

Ch 3: la folie

“But in the places where it isn’t faded, and where the sun is just so, I can see a strange, provoking, formless sort of figure, that seems to sulk about behind that silly and conspicuous front design.”
― Charlotte Perkins Gilman, The Yellow Wallpaper

Chapter three descends into the depths of paranoia - our heroine at last surrendering to the madness conjured by the very wallpaper that seemed to cradle her. The house twists upon itself, each room a labyrinth, every door opening only to endless dark from which there is no escape.
Her candle, the fragile symbol of her spirit, trembles - its flame wavering, gasping, as if each breath of air conspires to snuff it out.

Huge thanks to my model and muse, , for taking my prompt of “more madness, more drama, just more!” to the extreme with the most exquisite interpretation of insanity and for insanely stunning film scans!🕯️

I think it’s pretty well known my aversion to 🐍’s, but what I can get behind are these gorgeous serpentine tables, from B & F’s wedding at LaSalle Reserve on Vashon Island, that are taking the wedding industry by storm. It’s such a great way to break up the traditional banquet tables and add a feeling of fluidity and movement.

What do you think? Are serpentine tables here to stay or a passing fancy?

Kicking off my favorite season (again!) with one of the most stunning stationery suites I’ve ever had the joy of styling from .

I actually styled this suite twice: once on the day of the editorial, and again the following day. Time was tight during the shoot itself, and with all of the thoughtful details Mikayla poured into her design, I wanted to be just as intentional in how I photographed it.

On day one, I leaned into the symbolism and mysticism woven throughout the shoot: lilies representing purity, skulls as a nod to mortality, and gilded touches inspired by Dutch Golden Age still-life paintings.

On day two, I embraced a “more is more” approach, layering in every single element from across the shoot: pieces from the tablescape, details from the models, and so much more. It turned into a beautiful little game of I-Spy, the kind where you can linger and keep discovering new treasures each time you look.

Which version speaks to you more? The moody symbolism of day one, or the layered abundance of day two? ✨
