We love a backyard wedding!
If you are considering or planning one, here are some tips to help.
1. The essential rentals for a backyard wedding can almost cost you the same amount as a venue if you are inviting 100 guests or more. So that shouldn't be your deciding factor on hosting in your backyard. Many of the items you will need include:
Tent, tables, chairs, linens, dancefloor, lighting, and restroom. Then, depending on the style you choose, you could be spending upwards of $6,500. And that doesn't even include china, cutlery, glassware. When creating your budget for your backyard wedding, make sure to collect some quotes on all these items prior. You can request a site visit with rental companies as well who provide tents.
2. The biggest pro now is you can work with any vendors that you so choose. Be creative with different styles of catering and bar services. But be sure to ask what their services include. Does the bar company include ice? Will the caterer stay from start to finish and remove trash when they leave at the end of the night? If they don't, that's fine, but now you know to have a plan!
3. Parking or shuttle access. Have you thought about where all your guests will park? If they shuttle in, is there a turnaround large enough for the vehicle transporting your guests?
4. If you're not thinking to yourself, "oh those are good questions!" Then reach out to a planner! You don't have to have them plan the entire wedding, but some Planners like myself offer a consultation package. That educates you on successful, planning, so that you're informed on the things you may not know. A personalized education on the type of wedding you want to have!
