We have baby bunnies ready for new kiddos to love! These are babies of my petting zoo bunnies and they are SO sweet and friendly. They are all 12 weeks old. We have white, tan and white, and one brown and white. They are 3/4 Holland Lop and 1/4 Angora.

Hello all! We’ve been swamped with allllll of the spring events lately! Plus, on the teacher side of things, I’m state testing! I am so thankful, but it put me behind on calling everyone back. Oreo’s Rescue Story!

A couple of weeks ago I saw Oreo shared on a local kill pens social media page. He was adorable! So so sweet and personable but very lame from old injuries from his former home. Usually ponies get rescued quickly, so I shared it and hoped someone would get him! I kept going back to see if the video had been deleted, because then I would know he had been rescued! Every time I checked he was still available. 😭 My friend Cassie was headed down to pick up a rescue and I told her to see if Oreo was still there and to check him out. She called me and said that he was so so sweet, but lame and now had become very sick with a cough and snotty nose. My heart sank. Kills pens don’t spend extra money on sick horses typically. I knew his time was ticking before he had to get on the hauler to Mexico to be sold for slaughter.

I knew he needed help quickly, so I went and got him the next day. I’ve had him since Friday and he had truly transformed before my eyes. His low hanging head is now up and happy! When he sees me he starts to neigh with excitement. He has to be isolated from the other horses and ponies because we do not want to risk becoming sick. I go and hand walk him so he has company and can get some exercise. He lights up when he sees us coming to talk to him.

We’ve got a long way to get him healthy and tons of money to be spent to get his feet where they need to be to help his very inflamed knees. We are happy to have him on the farm and cannot wait to see him flourish. We’ve had lots of messaged asking to donate to his medical bills (shocked by this)! You can totally help! I wanted to take a minute to talk about cows! I’ve am asked often if we have baby cows as part of the petting zoo. We have two mini cows on our farm, Lulu and Murdock! The number one thing I think about when I show up at home with all of my adorable animals is SAFETY for kiddos and safety for my animals. Something that is hard for people to understand when they aren’t around large animals often, is that some are amazing with being social and petting (Murdock) and some aren’t as fond with lots of people (Lulu). Even though Murdock is a saint and very very gentle and has never done a single thing wrong while out and about, he’s still super strong and requires adult supervision at all times when around kiddos.

Something else that I want people to understand is that I don’t get baby cows for my petting zoo, keep with while they are cute and cuddly and then sell them just for the sake of money. I refuse to do that with my business.

All of that to say, I can bring Murdock to a petting zoo, but he will not be in the pen with the kiddos and other small animals he will be outside on a halter and lead with a staff member and I won’t be able to bring another large animal aka pony or llama due to needing my staff member and myself to be with the petting zoo and one with the large animal. I hope everyone understands my reasoning! We love our cows and know you all do. We just want to keep everyone safe and the cows happy.

Finally I can share! Here is the story about the Pony Movie Stars! April 2021 I got a call from a man who left a voicemail saying he was an animal contractor and he wanted to speak with me about some ponies. I thought he was using that terms as a fancy way of saying horse trader. Needless to say, I didn’t call back. A day later, he calls again and I answer to tell him I’m not selling any of the ponies. He tells me his name and said that he’s the animal coordinator for the Killers of the Flower Moon movie and he found my website and is interested in using my ponies for a couple of scenes for the movie. Y’all, my jaw was on the floor. As I jumbled around to find the words I told him YES! I asked him for details and he told me it would be in early July but that it just depended on production. He couldn’t tell me who was in the scene or much about it until I signed some contracts. He also explained that he could house the ponies at their barn and then let me know when they were finished…. And if you all know me, you know that my animals don’t work anywhere I am not. I explained that I had to be with them. He said he didn’t know if that was possible but he would ask and get back with me.

A few days later he told me I was able to be on set as long as I was COVID tested daily. DONE! I closer to July I made sure to have leather halters and antique saddles to match the era.

July rolled around, I signed my life away in contracts so I didn’t disclose any information about the movie and it was go time! We arrived on set with the 5 ponies and it was AWESOME. I was not allowed to have my phone so these pictures are ones that other wranglers took and sent me, or people from the side that weren’t with the movie. Everyone was so so nice and loved the ponies. I got to meet so many amazing people from producers, to makeup artists, to costume creators and a few famous people. One of the producers had his family in town and the kids rode the ponies several times between scenes. My favorite was getting to meet Martin Scorsese and having him pet the ponies several times. His favorite was Stormy.

The ponies got to be in a scene with Robert DeNiro. He had just opened a ballet studio for the Osage children and was giving the ponies away and offering pony rides to try to sway the Osage people into thinking he wasn’t connected to any of the murders.

When I tell you this was one of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had, I am not kidding. So so much goes into making a movie and I got to see it first hand. The ponies were actual perfection. If you look in some of the photos you can see the cranes and different types of lighting that was continually moved around right above the ponies. They didn’t care at all! I’ve never been so proud of how well they acted and how they were down to do whatever was asked of them. When we finished the man who hired me told me he’s never worked with better behaved ponies and that he would be using us again the the future.

Finally, it’s 2023 and the movie is out! We watched it last night and it is amazing. I love that they used actual Osage people from this area to be in the movie and to tell the true story of their people. It’s truly work of art. I’m so thankful we were able to be a part of such a beautiful production and hope this story is heard far and wide.
