TIPS FOR AN AMAZING DAY / Here are some of our favorite tips to have the best elopement wedding day:

🖤 Expect that things will not all go according to plan. Holding your breath that everything is going to go perfectly is low key stressful and the truth is, something is going to go wrong, just like it does every other day! Instead, embrace the experience and be ready to enjoy the unexpected just as much as what you have been planning on. I bet you will find a lot more things to be joyful, excited, appreciate and be grateful for than things that are "going wrong" because at the end of the day most of your experience is going to be about attitude anyway 🥰

🖤 Give up your phone! We know you don't want to, but you have to turn it over at some point, so we suggest handing it over to someone you love while you are getting ready or stashing it with your planner if it is just the two of you, so you can fully be present in the hours leading up to your ceremony and throughout your special day - everyone not will you can wait 🤍

🖤 Write your vows ahead of time! Cramming in those vows the night before is not only stressful, but comes with the dread of knowing you still have something to check off the checklist before you can walk down the aisle. Plus, doing it ahead of time means that you can print that out and you don't have to be holding your phone in all your wedding pics - thank us later 😉

IN THE MOMENT / The best feeling on your wedding day is being able to be present in the moment and feel all the things.

As elopement planners, we know that, so we create a timeline for your day that allows you to enjoy it fully ✨

When you don't have a planner, either you need to take care of everything on your own or you are relying on another wedding vendor to help you plan. But the problem with having a wedding vendor help you on your day who is not a planner, means that they have another job to do too and that is their first priority - not your experience.

RE-DEFINING WEDDINGS / We think traditional weddings don't work for a lot of couples. Which is why 10 years ago, we created Modern Elopement to give our couples better choices.

The wedding industry was not created for small weddings and therefore many of the traditional elements, and even the overall format doesn't work for many couples. Small weddings don't need to have all of the big expenses that larger weddings do and they don't need to be as complicated to plan.

ELOPEMENT BUDGET / Are you wondering how much to allocate for your wedding budget? Well, it is like any other wedding, it depends!

We know that is not the clearest answer, but the reality is that there are FAR too many variables for anyone to quote you a budget before they know more about what you are doing, how many people you are inviting and where you are having your wedding.

Couples can spend anywhere from $200 for a courthouse wedding to $70,000 for an elaborate all the bells and whistles luxury destination micro wedding with 30 guests 😲

But, the majority of couples are spending in the range of $2K - $20K for an elopement or micro wedding.

ALL THE ISLANDS / Did you know that each of the Hawaiian islands are incredibly different? You need someone to ensure you are choosing the right island to wed on and since we do small weddings on all of the islands - we are here to help!

Each of the islands has its own personality and unique look to them, some have soaring green mountains and waterfalls while others have dramatic black sand beaches and lava rock landscapes. Some of the islands have tons of things to do while others are more quiet and laid back. A few of the islands are perfect for couple-only elopements and some are best for bigger groups. And there are a couple of islands that require a larger budget. So there is more to looks to consider when making your selection.

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION // We know that your wedding day venue is one of the most important decisions you will make, but before you officially move forward in booking your location we recommend hiring your planner first!

There are so many things to consider when booking your location and here are just some of the things you want to understand before confirming, sending money or signing on the bottom line:

🖤 Is it private?
🖤 How long do you have access to the location?
🖤 What are the restrictions?
🖤 Do they have a vendor list you have to book from?
🖤 Are there additional fees to consider?
🖤 Are there certain time frames you need to book?
🖤 If something were to happen, could you move your date?
🖤How far is it from where you are staying?
🖤 What are the options for post-elopement plans?

And so many more! When you have a planner who is not employed by the location, they can make sure you are protected with the contract, understand the total costs, ensure it is a good fit for your vision and also coordinate your other wedding day vendors with your location availability.

So, our advice is to slow down on choosing the location and wait until you have your wedding experts on hand to make sure you don't book something you later wish you could change.
