WEDDING TAX // Do vendors really give a higher price when you say it is a wedding? 👇

Once and for all - there is no such thing as the "wedding tax". BUT there are some vendors services that are priced higher for a wedding. Why? Because you are getting a completely different level of service.

Your wedding day is a SPECIAL OCCASION. And that brings a different level of expectation to a wedding vendor's services. This is your big day, the once in a lifetime moment and we know it. So, we are prepared.

Wedding vendors build in additional timing, staffing, preparation and extras into the cost of their wedding services, so that they can deliver their best and meet the expectations you have for your day.

There is no question that when a hair and makeup artist shows up for a bride they have built in more time, tools and extra products into your booking than for a standard every day booking.

The florist is ensuring that your flowers are not only the best of the best, but they order a ton of additional product to ensure they have options to create a bouquet that looks like your inspiration, they are not doing this for a simple flower delivery.

This is the case for many vendors, but not all of them. Some of them don't need to do anything different and they charge exactly the same as they would for any event. But the ones who do charge more have a good reason because they aren't providing you with a their basic service. They understand the weight of your expectations and have created a service level price point that is going to ensure you are getting their best.

So next time you here about the "wedding tax" take a breath and remember that wedding vendors do their jobs because we genuinely love helping couples celebrate this occasion and they honor the weight of your day by intentionally bringing you their best service.

We know that when you are looking online and chatting with vendors, it is hard to know what factors you should be looking for and so many couples end up letting price make their final decision.

But, there is a better way! REAL TALK // Choosing your photographer shouldn't just be about what you can see online.

Of course the images matter, but selecting your photographer based on a social feed alone is not what any professional would advise.

Why? Because these days we all can take a good photo, especially when you are shooting hundreds. You need someone that is going to be able to capture your day no matter what happens.

You want someone with experience dealing with less than ideal conditions.
You want your photographer to be easy and good to work with since they are going to be around you all day.
You want someone who is able to manage their time well.
You want someone who backs everything up - more than once!
You want someone who has experience posing couples.
You want someone who works well with your other vendors.

We have even more than we require from our photographers, but this is a good place to start. A photographer is one of the most important roles on your wedding day and you don't want to make the wrong decision.

HOW TO // Choosing the location for your wedding is actually the biggest decision you will make.

Your location dictates everything else for your day, so you want to make sure that before committing, you understand the full costs of your location.

Here are some questions to make sure you answer:

🖤Are there any additional fees or services that are required at your location?
🖤Do you have the freedom to choose your own vendors or is there a list?
🖤What are the full list of restrictions/requirements of the location?
🖤What is your cancellation or postponement policy?

These are just a few of the things we go over before our couples commit to their ceremony location. And our biggest tip? Make sure you hire your planner before you commit to your location so that they professional vet the contract for you and ensure you are making the right selection.

CULTURAL TOUCHES // We love elopement weddings with meaning and personal details and one of the best ways to do that is to bring elements of Hawaii culture to your day - after all you are choosing Hawaii as your place to celebrate!

Many of our couples choose to incorporate Hawaiian elements into their ceremonies like a traditional Hawaiian ring blessing, a conch shell blowing or a Hawaiian prayer.

Another very traditional way to bring some local elements into your day is to wear flowers. For men it is customary to wear a long open leaf lei as the groom and for women you can either choose to wear a longer white lei or a flower crown, which we call a haku lei.

Hawaii is a place as rich with local history, customs and traditions as it is with beauty,. And we love helping our couples incorporate elements of that into their wedding day. Want to know more? DM us!
