Our Story

Lone Star Sports is about to make this the largest HBCU sporting event to hit the Texas State Fair – the State Fair Showdown. Lone Star is calling on all HBCU students, alums, professors, administrators, staff and fans to come together in 2018 in Dallas at the Texas State Fair of Texas Showdown for a match-up between Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas and Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and of course, those fantastic high-stepping bands! The “5th Quarter” half-time show featuring TSU’s Ocean of Soul and Southern University’s Human Jukebox promises to be one that will go down in history. Lone Star also intends to make history of its own by bringing together a record-setting crowd to celebrate the rich heritage of our HBCUs at the State Fair Showdown. #SFShowdown | #HBCUsUnite | #HBCUbands
