Here are a handful of photos from our most recent trip into Washington. We were chasing waterfalls on this trip and we certainly found quite a few of them. We hiked to around 10 or 12 waterfalls on this long weekend.

Sadly, I lost my tripod on this trip to one of the rivers, so I will be investing in a new one.

Toward the end of our trip into the Canadian Rockies we spent a few days in Jasper National Park. Although a large portion of the park is in tatters from the fire in 2024, it was still beautiful in many ways, especially in terms of wildlife.

That being said, this forest fire in Jasper should serve as a cautionary tale for every national park in the Rocky Mountains. As trees grow thicker and thicker each year, creating an increasingly unhealthy forest, the danger of a wildfire increases as well. Jasper lost over half the town, half of the residences, to this fire as well as tens of thousands of acres of forest. That's not to mention the fire in 2015 that took many tens of thousands of acres of forest in it’s wake as well.
Proper forest management would have prevent or at least mitigated so much of the disaster and probably would have saved the homes of the people of Jasper. Our national parks need to manage their forests otherwise just such disasters will continue to happen.

A place very close to my heart that is also in danger of this happening, as it did in 2015, is Glacier National Park. The Park Service's refusal to allow loggers to clean up the forests, make them healthier and remove the dead wood is a disappointment and unfortunately, it's only a matter of time before other such wildfires take place again. It'll take many decades, for such areas to recover and it makes me sad that we refuse to do anything to mitigate or even prevent such disasters.

These photos are from our trip into the Canadian Rockies, that being said, these are not from any one particular National Park, but rather from the Icefields Parkway.

The Icefields Parkway is easily one of the most scenic drives I've ever taken.

In keeping with my release schedule of photos from our trip into the Canadian Rockies, here are a handful more photos I was able to capture on this amazing trip.
These are from Yoho National Park, which I like to dub "Banff's small brother".

These were some of the photos I've had to work the hardest to capture. We hiked over 17 miles the day we were in Yoho to get these views. Needless to say, we were hurting pretty good for a couple days after this.

Over the next few days/week I hope to post the photos from our most recent trip into the Canadian Rockies.

Waterton is truly amazing, it has been 14 years since I had last been in the park and it was as incredible as I remember. We arrived in the park in the late afternoon in the park, did a drive and found four black bears which as properly incredible.
The next day we hiked the Crypt Lake Trail. This trail is properly amazing and has everything one could ask for on a hike. Waterfalls, mountains, glaciers and vistas. National Geographic calls this one of the top 20 hikes in the world and one could see the argument they are making for sure.

Anyway, pardon my rambling, here are a handful of the photos I was fortunate enough to capture while in Waterton!

For Memorial Day weekend I was able to spend about a day and a half in Glacier. It was way busier than I anticipated, but I guess, looking back, I shouldn't be surprised as it's the "start to the summer" holiday weekend.

On Friday, I drove up after work and hiked up to Avalanche Lake for the first time. Surprising, I know, since I've been to Glacier probably 20 or 30 times at this point. Weather didn't do what I was hoping it would do and instead of having a cool sunset, it rained and rained and there was no good sunset light, sadly. The advantage of the weather though is I had the lake to myself and got to enjoy some peace at possibly the busiest, most visited destination in the park.

After hiking back from Avalanche, in the dark, I took a three or four hour nap to recover a bit. Woke up at 3am or so, drove to Two Medicine for sunrise. Again, the weather I hoped for eluded me, this time with boring cloudless sky, so sunrise less than exciting. I was, however, the first person into Two Medicine, so I parked and started my hike. I had Two Medicine to myself for the entire morning, which was also quite the treat. During this time, I hiked and it was me and a number of moose.

After this, I got to go out to see Chief Mountain, which I've only seen once in passing.

I was able to spend a few days in Grand Teton National Park, and I spent 20+ hours hiking and driving looking for grizzly bears, particularly a momma bear with one or more cubs of the year.
Unfortunately, I was unable to find such a grizzly. That being said I did run into the Beryl Spring Sow and her three year old cubs. Turns out she is famous for keeping her cubs and extra year.

In addition, I was able to see these amazing views, wildlife and explore an amazing part of this world.

Here are a few photos from our most recent trip to Glacier National Park. It was a pretty awesome experience, in spite of me messing up putting pressure in one of our bike tires so I had a useless bike. We virtually had the entire park to ourselves.

Winter/Early Spring is an amazing time to visit the park.

Went on a hike last weekend - decided to bring the camera with me. Was able to get a few shots in any case and they turned out decently.

I can't decided on which one of the waterfall photos is my favorite.
