I’ll let these photos do most of the talking… but WOW. Shooting with my photographer bestie was an actual dream come true! We’ve been planning this session for months and it was everything I hoped it would be!!

Now it’s go-time as I get ready for the next perfectly imperfect retreat starting now! Send all the prayers and good vibes my way!!

I know, I know. It’s way too late to post and yes I’ve been quiet for a few days, but I promise it’s all for a good reason. My next kicks off Thursday and I’m in full planning (read: freakout) mode!

At this point my brain is a mix of color palettes, Target runs, and “did I remember to do that?” lists. But I couldn’t let the week get away without sharing another fun session that had to find its spot on my grid!

It’s been a while since I’ve done a little re-introduction, so here we go! Hiiiiii! I’m Amber!! I’ve been a photographer for 15 years, but Charleston has only been home for the last three. It still blows my mind sometimes that this is where I get to raise my family and photograph so many of yours!

Here’s something that shocks a lot of people..I struggle pretty hard with social anxiety. I can fake it till I make it, but please don’t ever throw me in a room where I don’t know a soul! Give me a camera in my hands though, and I come alive!

I’m a Charleston family + motherhood photographer, but I’m also an educator at heart! I love helping other photographers let go of perfection and learn how to create fun, joy-filled (and yes, sometimes a little chaotic) experiences for the families they photograph.

And right now? I’m gearing up to host my FIFTH retreat, and I seriously cannot wait!! It never gets old seeing community built, confidence grow, and creativity spark in such a beautiful way!

As photographers, we should never want to feel “done” learning! There’s always something to soak in whether it’s from someone with more experience or someone who’s newer than you. Watching how others do things helps you grow, sparks ideas, and sometimes gives you the missing puzzle piece you didn’t even know you needed!

But here’s the other side of it… rest. How can we expect to serve our clients (and our families) well if we don’t serve ourselves first? With my own busy, bananas, chaotic, completely jam-packed, over-the-top crazy season about to begin, that’s exactly why I chose to come to retreat. To breathe. To learn. To laugh. To make real friends with other photographers (which I honestly think is one of the most important things!!). To remember that I’m not alone in this business. To fill my own cup before pouring out for everyone else.

And now with my own retreat happening next month (ahhh how is it already almost here?!) I feel so ready. Ready to tackle the world, ready to pour into others, and ready to show up for my people in the best way possible!

Did you know I haven’t 𝑎𝑙𝑤𝑎𝑦𝑠 been a family + motherhood photographer? Before chasing toddlers through the sand and convincing dads that “yes, this will be painless,” I was actually a wedding photographer!

And here’s a rare fact about me. I’m one of those unicorns who 𝑎𝑐𝑡𝑢𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑦 majored in photography in college. I’ve been doing this since 2011 when the first people I photographed were my pregnant sisters… I’ll save those masterpieces for another day, but just use your imagination for how 𝑒𝑝𝑖𝑐 (and by epic I mean… questionable) those looked!

My business has evolved right alongside me. It started in Southern California where I am originally from, then I packed it up and moved to Raleigh, NC, knowing only two people. I stayed there for 9 years before making a quick stop in Maryland for a hot second, and then landed in Charleston, SC where I’ve been for the last three years.

So take a little stroll down memory lane with me and peek at how my Instagram has evolved over the years. It’s wild to see how much has changed and also how much has stayed the same in the way I love telling people’s stories!

Two out of three kids are back in school, the sun finally remembered we exist, and my retreat is officially less than a month away!! I’m feeling unstoppable today! But first… let’s throw it back to this sweet maternity session when the weather clearly hadn’t gotten the memo about bringing the sunshine!

Can someone please explain how it’s already AUGUST? School starts next week, fall bookings are rolling in, and my calendar is officially in full-blown cozy chaos mode!

I truly love this time of year..the last bits of summer fun, the fresh start that a new school year brings, and even the moody thunderstorms that seem to pop up almost daily!

But speaking of storms… August is jam-packed with sessions and I am kindly asking the weather to cooperate because we do not have time for rain delays!

If you’ve been thinking about booking for fall..now’s the time! My schedule is already filling up faster than my kids’ backpacks next week. Let’s make some magic together!
