...This Saturday, 10/26 The Refuge will host its annual Monarch Festival on from 10 am - 2 pm to showcase this amazing migration. I was just down that way, and I saw lots of Monarch's! Weather should be gorgeous - so get outside and enjoy the day at the coast! 🙏📸

...tonight is the last good night for you to see Comet A3. Look west, after sunset and I'd say about 1 o'clock in the sky. Venus will be a "few inches" below the comet.

...can you see me now? 😯 Yesterday, I was walking on a trail at the refuge, and suddenly, I stopped dead in my tracks. I stood perfectly still as just in front of me (about 15 yards) the tall marsh grass was moving. Was it a gator, a bobcat? Nope🙋‍♂️ just a young buck! He lifted his head, and we stared at each other for a few minutes before he decided to continue on his way...🦌

...Happy 50th BC!! On October 11, 1974 - Big Cypress National Preserve became our country's 1st National Preserve. The preserve is highly diverse biologically - It is dominated by a wet cypress forest. One-third of the swamp is covered with dwarf pond cypress, and it is home to an array of flora and fauna. *I was very fortunate to be the Artist-in-Residence there in 2019 - where I was able to explore a vast majority of the preserve and spent lots of time with the Rangers learning about this fragile ecosystem.

...Im happy to announce that my picture, "Canopy Road," has been selected to be exhibited at the Tallahassee Airport Gallery for COCA’s 2024 PhotoFest exhibition. 🙏 This years show is extra special as Tallahassee celebrates its bicentennial - and what better way to represent this city than one of our many canopy roads 🌳🌳📸

Today, we have over 111 million acres of federal wildlands, designated as official wilderness! 💪 Wilderness provides so much more than a place to camp, hike, or fish. ...we've had a lot of rain lately. This area of the Oak Garden is usually nice and dry. But, it's always neat, though, to see the beauty of this flooded forest. Check out my comment to see how this area looks in the dry season....
