ELEMENTAL BEAUTY
Thursday, December 5, 12-7
Friday, December 6, 11-5

Today is ’s First Thursday Art Walk and we are honored to hold space in our Apothecary for ELEMENTAL BEAUTY featuring work by Stephanie Nicole and Abby Wong-Heffter.

In ELEMENTAL BEAUTY we are exploring the relationships between grit and beauty, form and function.

Stephanie Nicole’s medium is pearls. A pearl begins as a grain of sand, a small irritation, that over time is coated with layers of nacre, transforming into something luminous and strong. Stephanie’s work with natural materials, Baroque Tahitian Black Pearls in particular, echoes this process, embodying individuality, resilience, and mystery.

Abby Wong-Heffter’s medium is clay. Clay beings with the weathering of rocks. As rocks break down their minerals interact with water and air, converting it into something softer and more clay. When harvested, clay becomes even more pliable with water, allowing it to be shaped and worked. And after firing, it becomes durable and functional. Abby’s thrown pieces embody the goodness of natural beaty and the joy of inviting it into the everyday.

Stephanie and Abby will be in the Apothecary this afternoon and evening, alongside our curated collection of books, decks, and elements to support your aliveness. We’d love to see you!!!

Our neighbors are showing ‘Feast of the Seven Fishes’ by and our friends ’s show AYCE by .ceremony is closing tonight.

Art Walk is such a vibrant, community-building rhythm and we’re honored to be a part of it. Come celebrate the last one for 2024!

Our Apothecary will be open Thursday 12-7, Friday 11-5, Saturday 12-6, and always by appointment.

Sacred Passage: A Call to Mothers from and

You are invited to join us for a gathering of those who mother as we step into the mystery portal — a realm of both emptiness and boundless potential. This is a time for open hearts, shared wisdom, and a compassionate embrace of all we feel and hope for.

Together, we will explore:

💫 Ways to nurture our imagination and continue creating hope, light, and possibility for ourselves, those we care for, and the world
🌖 Spiritual insights and practices that help us remain grounded and whole-hearted as we navigate what lies ahead

Come by the Apothecary this weekend! We’re open Friday and Saturday 11-6.

We love this glimpse into our shop and mission from : “Shelterwood Collective is a therapeutic and wellness cooperative that truly lives out their motto of ‘community is our medicine.’ Shelterwood’s storefront is not only a shop of selective wellbeing accoutrements, but a gathering space for workshops, creatives, and anyone that wants to simply pause and savor some tea and conversation. The goodness on the first floor is a mere glimpse of the healing working that goes on upstairs (and extends out through the collective).”

MYCELIAL NETWORKING:
A community gathering for healing practitioners
Friday, November 15, 10:00-11:30am
Pioneer Square | FREE

This event is inspired by mycelium — the network of mushrooms that sustain, nourish, and protect entire ecosystems. These seasonal gathering are spaces for practitioners to connect, collaborate, and grow. Over the course of this academic year we’ll invite therapists, bodyworkers, energy healers, prescribers, coaches, spiritual guides, and other complementary healers from within and beyond our collective to join us for conversation and resource-sharing.

November’s Mycelial Networking event is focused on BODY and we will have the opportunity to learn from and collaborate with:
* Sonja Sivesind — an acupuncturist and the founder of Community Acupuncture Project of Burien ()
* Dr. Susannah Bergin — a Somatic Chiropractor and nervous system educator ()
* Jacqueline Blackmore — a Massage Therapist that works from an intuitive, trauma-informed framework

This gathering will open with a panel discussion with space for questions and conversation as a group and flow into more open space to mingle and connect with our panel and fellow practitioners.

We’d love for you to join us! Follow the link in our bio to learn more and RSVP.

Working with our hands can be so healing and grounding, especially when things feel intangible or out of our control. 🧶

RSVP so we can prepare our space for you. Many thanks to for curating this space each month!

“Art is not a luxury. It is a vital necessity of our existence. It forms the quality of the light within which we predicate our hopes and dreams toward survival and change, first made into language, then into idea, then into more tangible action.” — Audre Lorde

Tonight is the First Thursday Art Walk in . Come be nourished by the inspiration that’s here and the community that gathers!

We’ll be in the Apothecary until 6:30 tonight. Our table will be open for conversation and connection. We have plenty of hot tea, wine, tarot, and grounding stones to share. We’d love to see you 🤍

Today is a loaded day.

We are humans with bodies, hearts, and spirits holding multitudes — numbness, anxiety, terror, despair, anger, urgency, judgment, confusion, and grief.

is a beautiful sage and the poem they shared today reminds us to remain rooted in our mission:

empires fall
and the earth goes on
time is the deepest breath

empires fall
set down those broken tools
it’s time to grow wilder

empires fall
rivers flow underground
we are always the water

empires fall
mushrooms compost
we are mycelial

We will keep imagining, birthing, and tending to new worlds but for today, we’re together in what’s here — whether that be exhaustion, heartache, despondency, grief, or something else all together.

As much as you are able, we encourage you to tend to your humanness — breathe, drink water, eat, walk/stretch, connect with others, rest.

Shelterwood Collective exists because we believe that our healing and well-being is intricately tied to one another. We are here to offer presence, support, and resourcing.

Community is our medicine. All are welcome.

📷: Grateful to Cole Arthur Riley for offering these wise words in this moment.

SUNDAY RESET

It is okay to get support, reconnect with your body, and reset your nervous system. In fact, rest is necessary medicine for our personal and collective resilience, creativity, and wholeness.

Dedicating time to pause can feel hard, out of reach, and downright unrealistic. This is made even more difficult amidst tragedy and change, both personal and global.

At Shelterwood we believe community is our medicine. This monthly offering is an invitation to:
🕊️ soften our nervous systems
🤍connect purposefully with one another
✨connect with our inner wisdom
🌲learn and try on practices that support rest and ease

MINI RESET
Sunday, September 8, 10-10:50am

When we’re holding a lot taking a moment to pause or reset can feel totally unrealistic, out of reach, or even ridiculous - yeah right, like that’s going to help? And when we’re witnessing horror and tragedy, it can feel like we don’t deserve it.

This is exactly why we’re hosting this mini reset. It’s a FREE, virtual gathering to:
- soften our nervous systems
- connect with our inner wisdom
- learn easeful practices (not meditation)
- practice presence

Guided by , , and Nicole Greenwald.

All are welcome! Sign up in our bio and we’ll send you the link to join us.

SOULFUL SOUND SESSION
Thursday, September 5, 8-9pm

We’re in a liminal space between summer and fall. This can be a time of frenetic energy - we’re ramping up for back-to-school (even if we haven’t been to school in years!), the weather is all over the place, we’re shifting gears from summer’s activities and adventures to a different pace.

Chances are most of us are feeling a little wonky. This is exactly why we are holding space for a Sound Healing Ceremony with the lovely Elizabeth of

Come and take an hour to reset your nervous system. All the sound waves to quiet your mind, wash over your body, and renew your connection with your heart.

Sometimes taking a moment to pause, reset, and receive nourishment is just what we need when we’re feeling overwhelmed, confused, or a little off.

See you Thursday? ;)
