Moving Day….

To say that I am feeling anxious is an understatement. Movers are coming to move ALL of my wedding decor from one storage unit to another today. So many little things, and I’m hoping it goes smoothly and swiftly.

Feeling a little guilty for being so absent on Social Media lately… but life has been so busy. We have had holidays, and family birthdays, and buying a new house and moving, and fixing up our old house to sell…
Not to mention frustration with the economy and how it affects business, forcing me to hustle in other areas where I am not as strong. Social Media has never been my strong suit. Probably never will be. Oh well. I’ll pop in soon with some updates.

I can say that I had a few dresses by Jessica McClintock! 😂 I also remember figuring out that she was no longer designing… and so had to look elsewhere for my senior prom dress. ❤️

When I think back to formal events in the 80s, Jessica McClintock helped create a lot of wonderful memories - bows, lace, taffeta, and all.

Dearest Bride, can we have an honest conversation about dress pricing? I have a lot to say on the matter, but I'll try to keep my thoughts under control, haha! There's a lot that goes into determining the cost of a wedding dress - raw materials (fabric, beads, thread, sewing machines, etc.), labor (pattern makers, fabric cutters, sewers, beaders, quality control, etc.), packaging & shipping, office administration, and so much more! If all people along the way are being paid fair wages (exploitation of workers is a HUGE problem in the fashion industry!), there's definitely a substantial cost that goes along with producing such a special garment for your special day. And let's face it, that $300 dress you found online being advertised with a stolen photo of a $3,000 dress, it just isn't going to arrive looking like the photo! There's a reason dresses cost what they do! I work hard to bring in great dresses that are still a great value, considering all the work that goes into them, and the value you place on them!

I know you want to buy your wedding dress with confidence that you are getting a great product for what you are spending. There are a lot of dresses out there that measure up to what they cost, and a lot out there that don't. Don't be afraid to do your due diligence, and ask your dress shop questions! And BTW, if a shop is offering you a huge discount to buy a dress at your first visit, chances are they have marked that dress up in price in order to offer you that discount. Look closely - that great deal might not be so great after all.

When your ceremony space feels like an elopement… but you really have over 100 guests…

Our couple this weekend was amazing, and they tied the knot at a cabin in McCall, where the bride had grown up spending many summer days. This space holds special meaning to the family, even more so now that they have had 2 of the great grandchildren get married here.

Simple, relaxed, and fun. That was how Roxie and Matt described their ideal wedding during our initial consultation.

Mission accomplished.

Unity ceremonies are something couples sometimes integrate into their weddings to signify the joining of two people into I’ve unit. Sand ceremonies are just one type I see a lot of. The idea is that once you pour the different sands together, it will be nearly impossible to separate the grains.

The unity candle is a other common option, but some of the more unique things I have seen done are planting trees, painting, and glass beads that then get fired into art pieces for your home.

What are your thoughts about unity ceremonies?
