When it rains in Paris, you get some pretty amazing reflective photos. Paris brings out the most creative part of me, which might be one of the reasons I love it so much here. I know I only have a couple more weeks here so I am soaking it all in. I know I will be back very soon.

If you watched my stories the other day, you saw that I was scouting for locations for all the photoshoots I have this month. Many people love this area, but right now there are Olympic logos and scaffolding everywhere. There is a sense of excitement and pride when I see the Olympic rings on the beautiful Tower, but it also doesn't look great in the photos. Because of that, I highly recommend some other locations that have this same look but without the Olympic rings. Curious about the other locations?

You know it's funny, I am actually kind of terrible at posting photos of my weddings. I definitely have some that I love because of the decor or scenery or sometimes the couple just wins me over. But I do love sharing all the gorgeous weddings I get to photograph. This was one I really loved but never really posted a lot of. I am not sure why either. Either way, here is an amazingly fun and sweet wedding at another favorite venue .

I'm heading off to Paris for the month and have such mixed feelings. You all know I love that place, but there is a part of me that longs to be near my family here in the states. Especially since my daughter just moved back to be close to me. I'm so beyond thrilled for all the photoshoots I have this month, but a part of me wishes I could teleport my kids with me. When will we be able to be in two places at once? Ha!..

I'm currently reading *another* Brene Brown book called "Braving The Wilderness." I was listening to it the other day and she said something that really stood out to me. She says "Joy is vulnerable. That's why we are afraid to let ourselves feel it. Don't squander joyful moments by waiting for the other shoe to drop. Lean in and practice gratitude." I've been struggling with this and have noticed a pattern in myself with this. It's almost like we don't deserve to be happy. Why? Why do we feel this way? I thought I would leave you with this message and hopefully it resonates with you and gets you to think a little bit as well.

Roche Harbor is one of the most amazing venues for any wedding. It feels like Disneyland for adults (or so I have heard). Not only is the staff outstanding, the accommodations and surrounding areas are breathtaking. I have photographed weddings here in every season, and every season is just as beautiful as the other. If you are visiting the PNW, take a two day trip to Friday Harbor and head over to Roche Harbor for a night. I promise you will love it! . Venue:

This post is for photographers.When photographing tablescapes I always try and capture different angles. Also, make sure to check with the florist if they have a preferred floral piece that they like the best. Trust me, they will thank you for that! One mistake I see a lot of new photographers make while photographing tablescapes is not waiting until everything is set up or until the candles have been lit. Always check in with the coordinator or planner to make sure the tables are fully ready to be photographed so you don't have to edit more images which is essentially creating more work for yourself.
One of the first things I taught my lovely assistant (back in the day when she was training) was to remove the salt and pepper shakers from the table as it distracts from the elegance of the table details. Now, as a joke, she always takes a picture of *just* the salt and pepper shakers so that when I am culling the images, I end up seeing a photo of them and it makes me laugh every time.

Did you know that one of the biggest mistakes brides and bridesmaids make on a wedding day is to get a spray tan. Strange isn't it? There are several reasons that your photographer wants you to know that getting a spray tan is kind of a no-no if you are going to get your photos taken.1- It can be blotchy and doesn't photograph well for close up photos of your hands and arms. The most frustrating thing is trying to get detail photos of the ring and hand holding, but 99% of the time, the spray tan leaves marks in knuckles and wrists and is difficult to edit out or smooth out.
2- If your fiance isn't getting a spray tan, there will be a difference in skin tones which doesn't look cohesive and is very difficult to edit for two different types of skin tones (trust me on this- I hear this complaint ALL the time from photographers). Talking to your makeup artist about your concerns will help you find another solution for wanting a bit of tanned skin.
3- It can run on your wedding dress/suit (sadly, I have seen it). It's so sad to see when you have spent a pretty penny on your dress just to get spray tan all over it.
4- Your eye and the camera don't see the same thing, which is why getting professional makeup on your wedding day can seem like you have a lot of makeup on, but it's because the camera only picks up some of it. Don't worry when you seem like you have a lot of makeup on, it WILL photograph better than what your eyes see. This is kind of the same thing as a spray tan. It may seem subtle to your eye, but it's very drastic and pigmented to the camera. Just say no to spray tans.

We may not all be able to travel to Tuscany for a wine country wedding, but there are SO many amazing local spots that have a very similar look. Woodinville, WA and Napa, CA are two favorite spots that have some amazing winery weddings. Not to mention my new favorite Santa Ynez, CA and Lake Chelan, WA. If you are looking for a winery wedding venue, I recommend checking out those four locations.
