✨ Our wedding reception on film // 7.6.24 ✨

Film is so very special to me. We added it to our elopement in California in April and I couldn’t go without it for our reception back home in Ohio. It must be a photographer thing, or the fact that I learned on a 35mm film camera and my high school’s dark room was a safe space for me to be myself and explore my art. Maybe it’s because I grew up with beautiful film photographs around my house taken by family who had passed away. In any case, film has always had my heart.

These moments frozen in time from one of the best nights of our life - celebrating our love with our loved ones. This night was so special and magical, from the twinkly canopy above us to the unplanned fireworks in the distance and there’s so much more I’d love to share - but these will have to do for now.

I’m so thankful to the people tagged below for making our day so special. I’m so lucky to have so many incredible friends in this industry. 🥹🫶✌🏻

I feel like I make this post every year; thanking everyone for their patience this time of year when we are stressed to the max with our schedule, our backlog, our lives as parents… but this year is a little different for me.

Last year I was diagnosed with endometriosis after a long 20 years of reproductive health issues. We typically book projects up to two years out and I knew I didn’t have a gap in my schedule to accommodate a major surgery until December 2024.

Almost as if my body could sense it was almost time, the pain and complications caused by this frustrating disease had gotten exponentially worse over the last six months.

I have missed weddings, I have been extremely fatigued and in a lot of pain. I always want to be at my best when I’m with you on your wedding days and so you often see me very happy-go-lucky and generally crushing what is a very physically demanding gig on those days. But, the behind the scenes have not been so pretty and wedding days often trigger flare ups of pain to deal with in the days or weeks following.

This season has been incredible for all of our amazing couples and for us, and has also been incredibly exhausting. I know many of you are still patiently waiting on your projects, highlight films especially - which are so much more subjective to edit and not something I like to rush.

On December 12th, I will be going in to surgery for a total hysterectomy and will be spending quite a bit of time resting, recovering, and catching up on editing in the weeks following.

For those of you waiting ever so patiently for your galleries and films, thank you. I love telling love stories more than anything and I am determined and hopeful that this surgery will drastically improve my quality of life - from my ability to be more present and energetic at a mom and business owner ready to take on 2025. 🫶🥰

✨ATTENTION: LAST CALL TO DOWNLOAD OLD GALLERIES ✨

My old gallery hosting site connected to my former business name, Renee Freeman Photo + Film will be TAKEN DOWN on Sunday, 10/13/24. There are live galleries going all the way back to April 2021. I often see recent download of a few images here and there from these old galleries and want to make sure you have your ENTIRE GALLERIES downloaded and SAVED to separate locations for safe keeping before they are removed. I will NOT be re-uploading old galleries once the site is removed. Everyone should have their full galleries downloaded and saved by now.

Again, all remaining live galleries prior to December 2023 when I rebranded will be effectively removed THIS SUNDAY, OCTOBER 13th, 2024. You have until then to re-download and make sure you have copies saved. Any galleries not currently on the site (aka older than spring 2021) will not be re-uploaded. It is possible I still have copies of these older galleries on old hard drives but there is no guarantee and if requested to search for + re-upload anything to a new gallery, you will be charged a fee so it is very important to save save SAVE YOUR IMAGES!

What an epic celebration this past weekend was with Emma + Tawni and their families and friends! From rehearsal on Friday to a whole wedding day construction decorating tents and tables and baby’s breath galore - we pulled it all together to create this magical evening. Tawni + Emma are so perfect for each other. I got to witness every bit of how they balance each other out, support each other in the little moments + big ones. I got to see how they love each other and it was a joy to watch their day unfold surrounded by their favorite people.

On this unforgettably beautiful night on the Veridian rooftop…

This group of family and friends in particular were so smiley + happy + teary-eyed for Nancy + Nikki. The abundance of love support these two have is incredible - it was truly in the air.

Guests shared tears brought on by reading the handwritten letters that Nancy and Nikki hand wrote to each and every guest. Nancy and her dad shared an epic father/daughter dance. Flaming donuts were tossed and served with ice cream. Laughter rang through the air. A slight chill wove its way through the Veridian as the sun set, bringing us all closer together. Nancy + Nikki’s best friends shared their fondest memories + honey roasts. Hugs and good conversation were punctuated by the sound of children saying “cheeeeeeseee” while dashing around with disposable Kodaks.

It was a night to remember. Congrats to Mr. and Mrs. Bharadwaj! ✨

The Mackays // An International Love Story ✨ I had been dying to use this Alan Watts lecture about falling in love for a while, and found the perfect place for it in the intro of Kalleigh and Rory’s film played over videos of them actually falling deeper into love with each other over the years. In the lecture, Watts describes “what an act of faith” it is to take a journey, to trust, to fall in love. And when Kalleigh and Rory fell in love, it was just that. She moved her life to Scotland and their story unfolded across the world. Then, they brought loved ones together from all over the world to celebrate their story in Charleston, SC and began a new chapter in a new home back in the US. To The Mackays, we adore you.
