Meet Dana Lynn & Marcelo | Owners

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dana Lynn and Marcelo Baird.

It maybe hard to believe, but Dana Lynn actually started her career as a wedding photographer and videographer as a senior in high school, back in Pittsburgh. With this experience under her belt she went straight to college in 2004 on scholarship to the Miami International University of Art and Design. She attended the university as a film major, but later realized her passion was in photography. As a self-taught photographer, she has since been powering through life not only creating beautiful photos but simultaneously building a brand which currently employs over 40 people. No matter how successful her company has become, she never forgets the years of tremendous hard work and the bounty of satisfied couples. Dana accredits most of her growth to her forward thinking, business savvy husband Marcelo, who has motivated and pushed her forward every step of the way. Taking on many responsibilities, he has allowed her to be creative, available to run the company and handles the parts of business most struggle to find time for. More recently, their growth has expanded back to Dana’s home-town of Pittsburgh and neighboring state of New Jersey. This exciting expansion is sure to continue the growth of their success!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you? When Dana graduated from college she had 3 years’ worth of experience managing a busy commercial photo studio. With that experience, she confidently opened up shop with her husband. They had a proud street front studio in North Miami which was short lived due to an unfortunate robbery. All the equipment was lost and a young, pregnant Dana Lynn decided to close the studio and work from home. From there, she met clients at coffee shops and focused solely on wedding photography. It wasn’t long before she found herself booked solid and turning couples away. That’s when Marcelo drove Dana into building a small team.

Most of the individuals whom have joined the Dana Lynn team have stayed and grown as professionals alongside her, always learning and seeing the silver lining in any set back. When there were obstacles like not enough man power, not enough time or even enough tables at the coffee shop, Dana and Marcelo took the challenge head-on and grew.
