THE HAPPY WAVING FROG WAVES AGAIN!
Many people have never heard of the Happy Waving Frog. This species of frog is known for stopping in its tracks when spotted and throwing its enemies off guard by waving in a very friendly manner. This has proved an effective defense as it's gained many new friends this way. This little guy made his home in our puppet theater back in Lunenburg, Massachusetts for many years – greeting visitors big and small with a friendly wave if they pulled gently on his string. Now that we've relocated to Lubbock, TX he's decided to meet the locals once more. Here he is comfortably perched on the front of our Ticket Booth at Science Spectrum, waving to visitors as they arrived for our puppet shows this past weekend.
After some understandable trepidation he's adjusted well to Lubbock; in fact he's considering starting a citizen's Hand Waving Society that any may join. The only requirement will be that you wave at someone new at least once a month. If you do, you'll soon find out (as the Happy Waving Frog has) that you'll make many new friends. No matter where you live.

A HALLOWEEN DELICACY: 'BELLYACHE CAKE'
The spooky season is upon us and to help celebrate we'd like to present a musical video of “Bellyache Cake,” a holiday favorite from our full-length puppet show “Willy the Wizard's Halloween Party.” It teaches the perennial lesson: Beware of witches bearing baked goods. If you enjoy the song, remember you can purchase the entire puppet show as a digital MP4 and watch it on your phone, computer or even TV. In fact all Drawbridge puppet shows are available for purchase. For more information just click the link below. Happy Halloween, everyone!

A TEXAS VISTA: PRAIRIE DOG TOWN
I've seen these peaceful rodents in several places already but perhaps they're best viewed in Prairie Dog Town, located in Mackenzie Park, one of Lubbock's largest city parks. Here they've been protected in a natural colony designed and and created by K. N. Clapp in 1935. The serene, natural setting suits the prairie dogs as well as observers. Of course Chippy the Chipmunk (the self-assured hand puppet of Aesop's Fable's fame) says he could take them all on with one paw tied behind his back. Knowing Chippy, I'd say it's a good bet. This video is best viewed on a computer rather than phone, but should be able to be enjoyed on either.
A NOTE TO OUR MASSACHUSETTS FANS: This ongoing series of Texas Vistas is dedicated to those who will always be remembered and always be missed. It's unfortunate that new adventures require saying goodbye to those you don't wish to say goodbye to. Your continued love and support means more that you can ever know.
