Thanks for an amazing final weekend, everyone! We have had a great time seeing folks and giving some great deals on all of our stock! As of posting this we still have about an hour and a half before closing time, so you still have time to come by and get in on our best prices ever!

WE WILL BE CLOSED NEXT WEEK to clean, reorganize a bit, and regroup before re-opening again on Thursday, September 12, as The Map’s Edge: an Adventurers’ Emporium!

Greetings, weary travelers! Allow us to introduce ourselves! We are Sarah and Michael Sheridan, and we are the owners of the The Castaway Trading Co.! We have also both been employees of Crimson Rose Masquerade for many years now!

As some of you may have already seen, in September, our beloved Crimson Rose is going on a bit of an adventure - off the edge of the map, you might say - and returning back again to transform into something brand new:

“The Map’s Edge: an Adventurers’ Emporium!”

We understand you probably have a lot of questions! Questions like:
- Why the change?
- Will You still carry Corsets? Masks? Etc?
- What does this mean for the future of the shop?
Well, rest assured, we are here to answer them all, and more!

We have long discussed the possibility of taking over the shop from Kitty when the time felt right, and over the last two or three years it has become increasingly clear to us that we desperately need a retail space to expand our own operations. Meanwhile, Kitty has wanted to focus more on designing ready-to-wear clothing and corsetry, with less emphasis on direct retail - so earlier this year we began to form a solid plan for transfer of ownership. We are VERY excited to continue the legacy that began many years ago here in this very location, with Tiffany of ArtsMyths!

Which reminds us - Yes indeed, we still absolutely plan to carry an assortment of gorgeous ArtsMyths masks and leather goods, along with high-quality corsets from Kitty Krell (Crimson Rose Corsetry and Couture Ltd.), Clockwork Faerie, and more! In addition to all of the great costume and clothing staples you have come to expect from the shop as Crimson Rose, we also intend to expand our offerings to include more menswear, assorted accessories, gifts, decor, and even some antique/vintage items!

But most of all, we want to put a BIG emphasis on local and hand-made artisans, whose work doesn’t get the attention it deserves! We will be seeking new artists and vendors of unique and adventurous goods very soon, so keep an eye out, and if you happen to be someone who makes fun and exciting handmade goods that you think would be a great fit for our shop, please come by sometime soon and say hello!

We are also planning to use the space for more than just retail! things like gatherings and markets, classes on topics such as leatherworking and sewing, and talks from local experts (like our very own Kitty Krell) on things like the ins and outs of corset fitting - plus much much more!

We are so excited to embark on this epic journey with you all, and we hope you will come to love our new emporium just as much as you loved Crimson Rose, and ArtsMyths before it!

It is with both excitement and sadness that I’d like to tell you all that on Sunday, September 1st, Crimson Rose Masquerade officially becomes The Map’s Edge, An Adventurer’s Emporium.

We are running a sale this week in anticipation of the change, with everything in store at least 20% off. On Sunday we will close as Crimson Rose Masquerade and reopen as The Map’s Edge.

What does this mean? I, Kitty Krell, am selling the shop and its stock to The Castaway Trading Co. who have been with me all 8 years of this journey.

They will continue to serve the Colorado community with high end costuming, focusing on local artisans and high quality pieces you can use year after year.

I’ll still be around, running corset days and possibly classes.

Though I’m a bit sad to see this chapter of my life end, I am incredibly excited for what’s next for me, and for the future of the store. It is in fantastic hands and staying in the family, so to speak.

Thank you all for being here for the past, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds in store.

Hey folks! Quick update!

Although two of our staff recently tested positive for COVID-19, the rest of our team members have now repeatedly tested negative, and since all of us are of course vaccinated, we have decided to open the store back up for regular business hours starting today! Sorry for the closure and inconvenience yesterday, but we want to make sure we are always acting in the best interest of both our wonderful staff and guests alike!

Our hours of operation are:
Wednesday through Saturday: 11:00 am to 6:00 pm
Sunday: 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm
And don’t forget that we fall back an hour this Sunday!

We also wanted to let everyone know that this was an INTENSE Halloween season for us, and we are therefore a little thinly stocked on some of our normal staple items! If you are concerned with whether or not we will have something in stock, we recommend calling ahead first! We will of course be doing our best to restock as quickly as possible, but while we are slightly short-staffed at the moment while our infected team-members recover, this could take a bit of time, so we appreciate your patience!
