Rising to the challenge: i’ve been photographing these guys for a few years now, and every year, G (the cutie in the Fair Isle sweater) is less than enthused by being photographed, running to hide everytime my camera came up. So this year, I decided to try something different. I asked his mom to let him pick out his outfit, regardless of what it looked like, and I told G that this was his session, and we could do whatever he wanted. The result was an incredible transformation: G came prepared with poses and crazy faces, and we all laughed through the entire session. No tears were shed, and G even asked for “one more picture!” I call that a win. 🥰😂

Oh, and catching these little speedsters wouldn’t have been possible without my Z9—the continuous AF never works harder than it does with them. 😅

I feel like every post I make on Instagram starts with, “I may not be posting as much, but…“😂

When I began this session with the stunning , I warned her right off the bat that I’m a freak. I jump and scream and cheer behind the camera, because I love the people I work with, and I want them to know how freaking gorgeous they are—especially when I know it’s so often the case that they probably can’t see it themselves yet.

Izzy put up with my craziness beautifully, and the results speak for themselves. ❤️ Oh, and just a cap off an incredible evening, the Super Moon made an appearance at the very end. No big deal. 😍

Nothing can re-create the excitement of waiting to get film back. Sometimes the results aren’t exactly what you expected, and other times they’re even better than what you remember shooting. This roll was one of those times—perfectly capturing a couple of beautiful days on the coast spent with people I love dearly.

The gorgeous Sam…and Sam. This was definitely one of the most confusing photo shoots I’ve ever directed, but also one of the most fun. I’ve known one of these Sams for a long time now, and I’m so beyond happy he found his person in…Sam, or, as I like to call her, literal walking sunshine.

Can’t wait for November, guys!

Watching my son find his person has been one of the singular joys of my life. And knowing that person is one of the kindest, most beautiful people inside and out, and that she so fiercely loves him back makes me indescribably happy. 🥰 Thanks for letting me photograph you guys this week, and . ❤️

Witnessing the total solar eclipse practically from my own backyard was possibly the most incredible experience of my entire life. I was positive I lost my photographic mind when totality occurred, and while it never once occurred to me to dial my settings down to get a long exposure of the stars during totality, apparently I did manage to get a few other decent pictures before I decided to just enjoy the experience of 3 1/2 minutes spent on what appeared to be a planet straight out of Star Wars with a really wacky black sun. (Thanks for that perfect analogy, .)

I completely understand eclipse chasing now.

I never thought when my son came into the world that someday I’d be photographing his proposal, but I couldn’t be more thrilled to have been there. ❤️ I’m so excited to welcome you to the fam, . Thanks for letting us all be part of the big moment (and yes! we managed to surprise her!), . Love you both so much!
