We started sandblasting glass 4 years ago, and here’s what we’ve learned along the way... **1. The Right Tools Make All the Difference** In the beginning, we tried to save money with a budget-friendly machine—a few hundred dollars felt huge back then. I remember being so excited, gifting it to myself as my BIG Christmas present, despite not knowing even how to turn it on! 😅 Our first projects? Total flops. 🙈 It was disheartening, and for a while, I thought it was a failure. But no—it wasn’t me; I was working without the right materials or knowledge. After those initial setbacks, I decided to dive deep—investing time and funds to really learn the craft. And oh, did it pay off! We eventually upgraded to a professional-grade sandblaster, which cost more than my first car, but changed everything. Now, whenever clients ask, “Can you do this?” I may not always know for sure, but I’m excited to figure it out. Challenging yourself is the best way to grow. **2. A Fun Fact to Share** You can indeed blast a hole right through glass! While I’ve only done this during practice sessions to see how long it takes, it’s something I think about every time I blast a bottle. We have been making this sweet girls cake toppers since she was a baby. When her mama was like can you do…. I said hold my disco balls and when to town. I’m not sure how we will top this one, but I’m sure we will find away! Since this topper was totally custom it took longer than let’s say if we were to make a second one. With design, and production this took about 2.5- 3 hours to create. You bet I loved every second though. I love creating new ideas and really enjoy pushing the envelope on processes.
