Hi Everyone!
I’m recovering from my shoulder surgery through New Years, but in January we will be moving forward with Wavpixlab’s next short film project! This film will be part animation and part live action made with some of our favorite collaborators. We’ve optioned a wonderful, award nominated short story about art and family and pizza and we can’t wait to begin work on the first animated segment!
We wish you all a happy holiday season and will be back with new art in 2024. Here’s our final release of 2023, the Papillon Remix featuring music by Amanezca and art/animation from Elli Maven.

If you’re wondering why the crickets are chirping over here, I tore my rotator cuff and have had my art and filmmaking activities curtailed recently. Took a break from my convalescence to do some pretty color work for Astral Summer! 🩵

Elli Maven of Wavpixlab, our film and art guru, saw that video from last night and offered to wave her magic wand over it and now it's, like, ART!

Lucia (Love Yourself) was in the music video block last night at the Atlanta Film Festival!
The Plaza staff and festival volunteers were all wonderful in accommodating our disabled family member and giving us a little early boarding to reach the second floor theater.

The screening was just wonderful, all the selections were just so good and it was an honor to be included with them.

After the screening they had all the filmmakers come down for a Q&A session and it was so great hearing about the creation of the music videos in the screening! It was an extra long time standing for me but I managed to keep it together and speak well I think!

I exchanged info with some of the other filmmakers and fully intended to hit that afterparty, but once I saw my friends and family off I hit the wall hard, completely out of spoons.

Resting today because the rest of the week is a long haul conference panels and screenings. I’m happy to be doing all of it and representing Wavpixlab Media there!

So we didn’t win, but we got pretty far, and the nomination gets us the privilege of listing Lucia on IMDB (which is one of the reasons I wanted it in a festival). We are happy to have progressed this far!

So now we settle in for the long wait to see if we get into the Atlanta Film Festival, which is close enough to attend! I picked this one we just did because of the fast pace and because it didn’t break any of Atlanta’s rules.
