I’m thrilled to share images from Ivy and Nico’s wedding this past weekend. This wedding was close to home and to my heart and I couldn’t be happier with how everything came together for these bright stars who I’m lucky to call my friends. Second shooting by my dear friend . First look at Sanam and Jon’s wedding at the perennially beautiful . I now have 90s club music permanently playing in my head after this weekend, thanks to Sanam and her bridesmaids 😂. A big thanks to my favorite travel bud for working with me in Lake Placid this weekend! Film and blog previews to coke later this week.

It takes real, time-led connections to produce the best documentary images. It’s why I limit my weddings each year at about 15- I want the extra time to connect with my couples before spending a whole weekend photographing intimate details and a wide range of emotions. I like to grab drinks at your favorite neighborhood bar when I’m visiting in Boston or Burlington or meeting up at your venue for a walkthrough together. Getting to know who you are beyond what your wedding is going to look like brings an extra layer to your images and helps me tell your story even more from your point of view.

I posted a few of Carmel and Daniel’s intimate wedding on earlier this week and it inspired me to do a deep dive into their June 2018 wedding. All these images have not been re-edited- good work and subtle editing holds up over time.

Hannah and David started their wedding day getting ready together before hiking Mt. Hoar with their photographer (me!). Afterwards, they said their vows in front of a small group of family and friends on Lake Willoughby. Sharing some of my favorite film photos from their late June morning.

It can be easy for couples and their vendors to get caught up in the pure aesthetics of a wedding celebration. Details take over much of the planning process, and while they are the icing on the cake, at the heart of the weekend are human beings. Likely at no other event will you have so many of your dear people in one place. Strangers will become friends, otherwise stoic relatives will tear up the dance floor, people you love will do things that remind you how lucky you are to have them in your lives. These moments won’t be pasted over the hottest wedding blogs, but they’ll be anchor points for you and your partner to hold tightly to your heart.

Happy Earth Day! In the midst of a whole lot of wasteful trends at weddings, there’s an equal amount of thoughtful ways to make your wedding kinder to the earth. My favorite way is utilizing local, in-season flowers, such as these beauties from . Not only are you echoing the outdoors inside, you’re helping local bees and flower farmers and eliminating transportation emissions.

As I prepare to celebrate ten years of running a wedding photography business and twenty years of photographing weddings (I began working alongside my parents at 14!) I’ve been thinking quite a bit about my favorite subject in the industry- creating timeless heirlooms in a field oft swept by current trends. For me, I surround myself with time-tested influences (a large collection of photo books from the 1969s to today) over Instagram, and find other inspiration through paintings, the natural world, and the emotions of the people I surround myself with. These images were taken between 2017-2021 and have not been re-edited, and I’m confident they’ll continue to be portals to the feelings and memories present at each wedding day they represent.

Here’s How to Remember What Your Wedding Felt Like.

Planning a wedding takes months to years of planning, and the day itself is often a crazy, beautiful blur, packed to the brim with meaningful moments and all the best people in your life in one place. Sometimes it’s hard to take it all in. As trained documentary photographers, we capture these planned- and unexpected moments, along with the joy, excitement, anxiety, remembrance, “I can’t believe my wedding day is today”, anticipation, “holy crap it’s been forever since I’ve seen you!”, and other feelings that carry the day.

We’re also strong believers in the fact that the better we know a couple, the better the photos will be. Because of this, we go out of our way to spend time hanging out with our couples in the months before their wedding, getting coffee or drinks or dinner. We know we live in the middle of nowhere, so we often travel to Boston, New York, and Washington, D.C., where many of our clients live to get to know their neck of the woods. If we can’t travel to you, we’ll make sure we spend some good time on the phone, talking more than just business.

If your wedding involves more than 20 people, you’ll be working with the both of us, Sarah and Jeff. We’ve been married for over 5 years and working side-by-side for almost a decade, and during that time we’ve found a quiet, engaged way of capturing celebrations together. If you’re planning a more intimate affair, Sarah will be your companion throughout the day.

We’re currently booking for 2018 and 2019 weddings. We're based in Central Vermont, but travel anywhere (we’re photographing weddings in six states in 2018!). Packages start at 3800.00 for two photographers and six hours of coverage.
