"How was your mission trip?"

Simple...

I spent the last week in the Dominican Republic with a team of 10 from Lifepoint Church Louisville & Go Ministries - both documenting & participating.

We moved over 5,000 pounds of concrete to repair a roof for a local church, painted 2 houses, & loved on countless children & adults.

I had no idea what to expect heading into this, but the overall mission was simple…

Create a buzz in the community to create opportunity for the local leaders/pastors to pour into & love on people who are far God.

One of their main ways of doing this is through sports - most of these communities would take a basketball court over a church building any day.
Mind you, most of these pastors minister straight from their home.

It’s easy to think that these people have so little, but realistically they have so much. They have love & community & a roof over their heads. They don’t care about material things or the creature comforts that we often times don’t even think about.

So at the end of our trip, we gathered on the beach to decompress, worship & reflect. We were asked to come up with a word that for a response to the question, “How was your trip?”

The word that came to me was “Simple.”

The way they reach people who are far from God is simple really - create opportunity for connections & love on your neighbors.

It got me thinking about how often I overthink it or make it complicated… but it’s simple, really.
