I got my seeds ordered last night! I will be working on getting my shelves set up this week so when my seeds come in I can get them growing! I also need to get my daffodils in the ground as well and I need to build my raised beds...did I mention it was 34Β° here this morning?! πŸ₯Ά Thankfully it will be back up into the 70's on Thursday β˜€οΈ I hope the New Year is treating you well and that you crush whatever goals you set for yourself! πŸ‘ŠπŸ»

I recently started working at a flower shop here in Florida so I could get back to doing what I love! I forgot how much I love designing πŸ₯° I am starting to plan out my gardens for 2022 now that I have a bigger space to grow in πŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸŒΎ Slowly but surely I'm getting back to doing what I love!

I apologize for my silence on here. Life has been a little overwhelming these past 4 months. Big changes have happened in my life recently and I'm trying to navigate these new waters. Starting over is hard no matter what it is that you're starting over in. I will be taking a long and much needed break from social media. I've noticed that it steals away a lot of my time and keeps me from going out into the world to live life. It is a thief of joy when you are constantly comparing what you have to what you see and believe others to have. I think social media is great for connecting with new people and learning about new hobbies and such, but there is a time and season for everything and right now I think I need a break. So this is my goodbye...for now anyway. I may come back when things are more settled in my life again. Before I go, I just want to say thank you to everyone who has supported me in my flower farming journey! You made all my hard work worth it! I will most definitely be growing flowers again someday, but for now I need rest and time away from social media. πŸ’•

Well hello there gorgeous 😍 We are finally in our home, but the house is being rewired so we are still living out of suitcases πŸ˜‚ This has been a journey y'all! I am hoping to get some work done this week on the area I'll be building my raised beds in. Starting over from scratch has been more daunting than I was anticipating. I feel like I have no idea what I'm doing down here in regards to the growing seasons. So bare with me while I relearn everything in this new growing climate! While I/we wait for my own flowers to bloom, I will be throughly enjoying all these beautiful blooms that are just now popping open...in November 🀯 It feels like Spring to me which is hard to comprehend because back home my season would be over. It has been hard to mentally make this switch, but I'm hoping as time goes on I will figure it out along the way πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ I hope you all have a fabulous Thursday and as always, thanks for being here πŸ₯°

I want to give a huge heartfelt thank you to Janie .poetic.fleuripist These specialty dahlia tubers were gifted to me from last year to help me get started in the world of dahlias. I'm not there to dig them up this year and I really didn't want them to go to waste (because I am SO thankful that they were gifted to me to begin with!), so I asked Janie if she wanted to dig them up to take to her flower farm where she is growing flowers for local food pantries (this girl has a BIG heart for people and her community). She was excited to do it AND she is going to mail me some of my tubers πŸ₯° I feel so blessed to have met this wonderful woman! I got to meet so many wonderful people through my flower farm and I'm looking forward to this next chapter here in Florida!

I haven't been consistent with posting because I haven't been doing anything gardening related. I spend my days calling insurance companies and filling out paperwork so we can buy a home here in Florida. Living in limbo is NOT fun and it's been hard watching all these other farmers continue to make beautiful bouquets and now move into making dried floral wreaths. I planted SO many flowers to dry for this season and I didn't get to dry any of them 😭 Moving is hard and life is a struggle sometimes, but I keep reminding myself of the many blessings I do have and I keep pushing forward. This is all to remind you that it's okay to have hard days and be sad for what you missed, but don't let it keep you down! Life is still beautiful and there is much to be thankful for πŸ₯°

Celosia is a must have in my gardens! You can use it fresh or dry for bouquets and it comes in so many fun colors and shapes! It's also edible πŸ˜‹ In tropical Africa they grow it as a food crop. The leaves provide nutrients such as calcium, phosphorus, iron, and vitamins, as well as a little protein. I may just add this one to my veggie garden next year! What do you think about it? Would you eat this beautiful plant?

Exciting news! We are finally under contract on a home here in Florida πŸ™ŒπŸ» My gardens will look different down here because I'm most likely going to be growing in raised beds (the soil here is mostly sand πŸ˜‚) because it will allow me to have better soil quality and I won't have so much w**d pressure! I CANNOT WAIT to bring you along in the journey of regrowing my flower farm. I'm going to have my 7 year old niece helping we as well and I'm sure you're gonna love her just as much as I do! Now I just need to be patient for another 8 weeks before we can move in πŸ˜‚ That means 8 weeks to plan out my beds, order seeds, and get my game plan in place. I'm just a little excited πŸ€ͺ

Happy Monday everyone! We are in the process of house hunting still, but we did put an offer in on a home with a property that would be PERFECT to re-establish Chick In Boots Farm. So I'm just over here trying to be patient about hearing back from the sellers haha. I may or may not have already created a blueprint of how I would lay out my gardens on the property πŸ˜‚ If it doesn't work out that's okay, but I figure it doesn't hurt to plan! I hope you have a wonderful week πŸ’• 🌻

My sweet Nana passed away a couple days ago and I've been mixed with emotions ever since. I am so happy she is no longer suffering from alzheimer's and that she is in the presence of Jesus. My Nana was truly the kindest person I've ever met. She never had a mean thing to say about anyone. She was a true gem of a lady who was loved by all who knew her. She will be SO missed and I look forward to seeing her again in heaven someday. The world is just a little bit darker without this lovely woman in it 😒 I am thankful for the MANY memories I have of her when I was growing up and the new ones I made when I got to be her caretaker a few years ago. She taught me so much and I will be proud if I become half the woman she was πŸ’• Love you always Nana πŸ₯° Give Grampa and Uncle Doc a big hug for me!

I hope y'all had a beautiful Labor Day Weekend and enjoy this 4 day work week ahead πŸ’• No updates yet on when I'll be able to farm again down here, but I have some other ideas up my sleeve to help the time pass and still get to enjoy gardening. I'll give more details on that once we are a little more settled here.

I have gotten so many messages from locals letting me know that seeing all the flowers in bloom brings them so much joy and happiness. πŸ₯° The world feels pretty heavy lately, so I'm glad that my gardens have provided a source of joy for people. I may not be there to harvest them like I thought I was going to be, but I believe God knew that people were going to need them to look at during these darker days. I have seen God's timing and hand in my business since the very beginning and I can't wait to see what great things He has in store for me down here in Florida.

I am definitely looking forward to harvesting buckets of flowers again! The Zinnias were just starting to put on a show before we had to leave. I'd be lying if I said I'm not sad that I missed my peak season, but I know God has great things in store for me here in Florida. I've just gotta be patient and work in other people's gardens in the meantime 🀣

This was my last flower selfie before we moved! I wish I had taken more photos of the flowers blooming but I just didn't have time with how fast I had to leave! I haven't had time to stop and say thank you for all the well wishes on my move to Florida! I know so many of you are sad to see me go πŸ₯° I never realized the impact this little flower farm had on the community! I may have cried a little while driving away from the house and flower fields, but my heart is full and at peace with this next chapter of my life! I'm looking forward to creating new gardens in Florida and bringing you all along for the journey πŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸŒΎπŸŒ»
