Petey! Our newest surrender. We love our surrenders so much because they come from people who truly care for their reptiles and know when to pass them along. This one was living with a new cat and the two didn’t get along. The owner realized they needed to get rid of one of the animals before something bad happened. Very responsible ownership!

Super fun morning at Union Christian Academy! The lizards and I got to play with lots of preschoolers. We visited with 4 classes that were all so well behaved. We can’t wait to go back!

Draco the Leopard Gecko. 🦎 He’s a sunset morph. We got him as a surrender when his owners moved to a location that didn’t allow animals. Leopard geckos love crickets and the occasional meal worm. Their tails are so fat because that’s where they store their fat. If their tales start to get thin, they’re not getting enough nutrients.

Even I still jump when a snake shoots out in front of me! This rat snake was sunning in the flower beds when I startled him and he shot in front of me aiming for the safety of this bush. Once he felt safe, he let us take a picture. We love rat snakes out where we are. You know why? They hunt for RATS! These guys are great to keep rodents away. If you see one close to the house, leave it alone. Odds are he’s finding good meals that you don’t want traveling in side.

Good morning from Bardeaux! He’s our year old Bearded Dragon. We let him out to stretch this morning and he found a perfect sunspot to bask in. Beardies are one of the best starter lizards. They love being close to their owner and have big personalities. They eat vegetables, crickets, mealworms and superworms. If you get one, get one that’s a little bigger. Their immune system is like a tank once they get out of the baby stage so the investment will help insure you have a healthy lizard
