Beautiful bouquets headed out yesterday. I love dahlia season, so many beautiful blooms to work with!
Second clutch of emu chicks is starting! This is the fun part, watching them pip, then hatch. They’re so sweet and stumbly at this stage but the species amazes me how quickly they go from this to running to full grown in a year. Their pace of growth is something to witness.
Emu chicks ready to move from the hatcher to the brooder! Unfortunately, we lost one the first night in the brooder:( Not sure what happened but the next morning everyone was sitting on one chick who had to be put down after days in the house attempting a failed recovery. 💔 So we are down to seven and I just sent an email out to all waitlisted buyers! These chicks’ eggshells have been sent out for sexing test results and will be ready to go in just a week and a half!
We have chicks! 8 blondes from Marvin and Wampa. This is their first breeding season together and these chicks look great!
We’ve got wiggles! For those on my waitlist, we should have chicks hatching for you in the next week or two! #emuchicks
Found some Love in a Puff seed pods while weeding today. They have the cutest little seed with a white heart on every seed. I grow it because I love its vine form. It’s great to add a draping effect to bouquets and arbors. And it adds a garden feel to my design work. But I love that it has these hidden little hearts inside in my wedding designs. It’s like a sweet little secret. ❤️
It’s beginning to feel like fall! Harvested my first round of pumpkins that are headed to Main Street Floral Company in Battleground on Monday! They are offering fun centerpieces, “pumpkulent” arrangements, which they originated years ago, along with pumpkulent kits for the crafty customers looking for a fun activity. I can’t wait to see what they will do with them next and as such I harvested some turkey tail mushrooms for them to add to the fun!
Can I just say…I love my job. I really, really do.❤️ I spent the later half of this week working at Ecotrust’s Irving Street Studio at the Portland Event Crawl. I got to decorate this beautiful venue with florals. I also connected with a lot of engaged couples looking for florals and other wedding services and got to share my design aesthetic and mission for seasonal, sustainable, locally grown flowers for their event with the bonus of seeing some old friends and current 2023 clients roll through on the tour buses that I wasn’t expecting! It was an added treat that filled my heart! Lastly, I connected with so many great vendors that I worked with on this crazy ride! It was such a pleasure to work alongside these other wedding pros who are passionate, dedicated, skilled and lovely professionals there to serve our shared community. To all the engaged couples I met, overwhelmed with the newness of planning a wedding, have no fear or trepidation. You are in great hands with these awesome vendors.
I’m truly humbled, honored, grateful, joyful and fulfilled in my work of sharing the beauty of flowers in my community.❤️

Jolene is settling in. She loves snuggles and is very playful. I’ll get video tomorrow of her behavior when I clean the brooder, it’s hilarious. She thinks the pooper scooper is visiting for a play date. Today we embarked into the laundry room just for some extra space. She stayed very close but as this becomes routine I expect her to explore some more. For now she’s winning me over with her sweet and cuddly personality.❤️
