All her life, she was told all the things
That crushed her heart and crippled her spirit.
She was too much of some things
But not enough of the others.
She didn’t know who she was trying to please-
After all, nothing seemed to work.
She was always unhappy trying
To make everyone happy but herself.
She didn’t need to be fixed, saved or completed,
She just needed to be loved and accepted,
Something so very rare in a time
Where everything seemed superficial and fleeting.
But she figured out who she was
And realized what she deserved.
She’d never sacrifice, settle or take less
Than the kind of love that was extraordinary.
She didn’t know how or when it would happen
Until one day, the sparkle of another
Did more than catch her eye..
It whispered to her soul.
In that instant, heart to heart,
Lost in the beauty of the moment,
She finally knew why it had never
Worked out with anyone ever before…
As she gazed deeply into love’s eyes,
She found the feeling and the peace
That had always eluded her for so long,
In that moment, she found home..
In the arms of her forever.
