Built in the early 1700s, The Wayside has been home to three literary families: the Alcotts, Hawthornes, and the Lothrops. The first literary site added to the National Park Service. The Wayside is the only National Historic Landmark to have been lived in by three well-known literary families. Their home and works span more than three centuries.

The Alcotts, who owned the house from 1845-1852, (before selling to Nathaniel Hawthorne) called it "Hillside." Louisa May Alcott lived here with her parents and her three sisters, Anna (Meg) 14, Elizabeth (Beth) 9, and May (Amy), 4. The four sisters returned to their childhood home in Concord, Massachusetts in Louisa’s 1868 classic, Little Women, where many of the events described in the book happened. ⁣⁣

It’s a messy week around here! And there is still plenty of time to get your orders in for Mother’s Day!

Ahh! The “cheap” “ugly” lowly Carnation. I myself have said these words when describing this “grocery store” flower. Lately, I have been giving these little guys a second look. (And doing a bit of tweaking them) As they rise in popularity, I am getting requests for them often. They do come in such lovely colors. And they can last almost a month with proper care! So, I would love to hear what you think! Are you starting to warm up to them again? I still draw the line at babies breath though. For now.
