We had such a great time at the VCS Community Tailgate event last Friday where we could represent The Mill at Vicksburg and Mackenzies Bakery in our support of Vicksburg Community Schools. It is especially fun to be a part of the excitement of with our Vicksburg Bulldogs on this special day focused on families, and our seniors.
Our Mill and Mackenzies teams include a mix of current VHS students, recent VHS graduates, and VHS alumni - so we are among the first to say !

We're starting to see big changes to the Main St. facades of our historic Hill's Buildings this week! Much of the exterior façade work we've completed with Frederick Construction in recent weeks has been behind the scenes, as the buildings are being fitted with new steel members to frame the storefronts into their original 1870s layout. Once the steel is in place, the existing east walls of 108 and 110 S. Main will be completely removed and replaced with their new "historic" storefronts!

We’re five months into our roof replacement effort with Frederick Construction in the Mill’s “Building 7”! We will be seeing additional sections of roof removed in this area over the course of the weeks ahead.
Building 7 was an addition to the original 1904 structure when Lee Paper Co. sought to expand their efforts and needed a new “machine room”.
The roof of this addition consisted of a concrete panel system that was unique to this section of the Mill, however the panels are no longer effective as an exterior material for protecting the interior from the elements. The roof panels are being meticulously disassembled and will be replaced with a metal roof over the next several months.

We loved seeing each and every one of you who visited us last night during ‘Burg Days in downtown Vicksburg!
This weekly event hosted by the Village of Vicksburg, MI is a wonderful way to enjoy our downtown filled with music, family-friendly activities, art, shopping, and dining.
Our collaboration with Oopsy Daisy to bring the wildflowers and sunflowers of The Mill to you in the form of hand-made bouquets has been so joyful - what great colors in each blossom!

This afternoon, the partnership of The Mill at Vicksburg and Oopsy Daisy celebrated this season's wildflowers at The Mill with the creation and delivery of bouquets to more than 20 downtown businesses.
These bouquets are on display just in time for tonight's 'Burg Days event! The colorful mix of wildflower blooms are fresh from The Mill's wildflower meadow and we love seeing this summer's harvest throughout downtown!

The meticulous 18 month lead abatement process is now complete. BlasTek, LLC has been on site removing up to 8 layers (over 400,000 sq.feet!) of lead paint using corn husks, black walnut shells and "black beauty" (synthetic sand). I am already pinching myself about the fact that I have been afforded the possibility to be a part of this project and I can’t imagine the content we will be able to produce!" When Taylor Kallio first stepped foot on The Mill campus in December of 2016, he could already see the potential of what this massive campus could become. An experienced aerial photographer and videographer, he quickly became part of The Mill family and has since devoted much of his time to bringing The Mill’s story to life through images and film. We are proud to announce that Taylor is now a full-time member of our Mill team!
