Our Info:
Dilly Dally in Dooly is a Georgia Barbecue Association sanctioned contest and is held the LAST full weekend in FEBRUARY at the BIG PIG JIG® venue located at 350 Pig Jig Blvd.
We hope to expand the event to include other activities.
Admission to the event is free.
We are currently seeking competition teams, craft vendors, food concessions, children’s activities, resource providers, yard sale participants, and free entertainment performers.

I had the honor of attending a recognition and dedication service today for two outstanding individuals, the late Sheriff Van Peavy and Commissioner AC Daniels, who were highly respected and admired by me and countless others. My initial connection with them was through another great man, my father, Art Lamb. I am deeply grateful for their dedication to our county and our citizens, as well as their support for me which was rooted in our shared love of animals. We will always be indebted to them for their years of dedicated service and unwavering love for Dooly County. They will forever be remembered as two outstanding men whose legacies will endure in our hearts and continue to inspire us all.

September 11, 2001, left an indelible mark on American history. My cousin's photos captured from his office in New York City are a testament to the day that transformed us all. I will never forget the fear and helplessness that gripped us all, but I also remember the courage and unity that emerged in the face of such tragedy. As I watched the events unfold on television, I prayed for the safety of my loved ones and felt a deep sense of hope and solidarity with my fellow Americans. Though we lost many innocent lives, the spirit of hope and unity that arose in the aftermath inspires us to this day. Let us continue to honor the memory of those we lost by fostering a sense of community and love of the greatest country on earth the United States of America.

‼️7/5 Midday update

National Weather Service update, Dooly, Crisp, Pulaski, Bleckley and Johnson counties have been dropped from the storm watch. That doesn't mean that we won't have any impacts but they are likely to be less. Rainfall is now predicted to be 1.5-3 inches average for our area. Wind gusts are still forecast to be 30-40 mph. The time frame for this event for Dooly should begin this evening and continue through Tuesday evening. Monitor local news media for more updates. Stay alert and stay safe.

‼️Debby update 8/5/24

Not much has changed overnight, Debby will make landfall in a few hours in the Big Bend area of Florida as a category 1 hurricane. Dooly County is still in the tropical storm watch area of Georgia. Wind predictions have been reduced from 40-50 mph to 30-40 mph. Rainfall amounts have been reduced from 4-6 inches to 1.5-3 inches for the Dooly Area. We are under a flood watch until 8/6 at 8pm unless it is extended. Expect the normal problems associated with this type of weather. Water over roadways, downed trees, ‼️limbs, downed power lines and isolated power outages. Monitor local news for updates. Stay alert and stay safe.

‼️Update from Dooly EMA
Tropical storm Debby is headed this way. Debby is expected to make landfall in Florida tomorrow morning 8/5/24. We will start to get some impacts from her then through Tuesday evening. Dooly County will receive some exceptional wind and rain through this period. For now Dooly County is just outside the tropical storm watch area in Georgia. This event is forecast to bring us 4-6 inches of rain and wind gusts of 30-40 mph Monday through Tuesday. The tract of the storm could change over time and changing the forecast. These impacts could increase if the storm slows down or stalls. We will continue to monitor this storm and advise you as this event unfolds. These types of conditions could cause downed trees and limbs creating hazards as well as isolated power outages. Be careful while driving during periods of heavy rain, watch for water over the roads and ponding of water in low areas. Be prepared for these conditions. Stay alert and stay safe.

Thinking of all my BIG PIG JIG®(Memphis Barbecue Network) and Dilly Dally in Dooly (Georgia BBQ Association) teams participating at Smoke Slam and Memphis in May World Championship. I’m so proud of all you guys. I know what it takes to do this and y’all are just so amazing! There’s a whole lot of talent representing us in Memphis this weekend! I hope you walk late and often!
