The Open Gallery continues Chuck Reinhart’s show, The Dark of the Sun, with some new pieces to add to this exhibition.

Chuck will give us tips, hints and best practices to use for photographing the Eclipse from start to finish.

The First Friday ArtWalk and all our gallery spaces are proud to be the kick-off event to The Dark Side of the Wabash Eclipse weekend which we have been preparing for over the last twelve months.

Celestial food and beverages will be served. Come show your support for this once-in-a-lifetime event!

The Open Gallery is proud to announce another season of creativity and celebration of the world of art with a fine line-up of artists.

In our run-up to the April 8 Eclipse Event in Vincennes, we will be exhibiting the astrophotographic marvels of Chuck Reinhart. Reinhart photographed the 2017 eclipse and will be offering prints for sale of that photographic solar exploration. Reinhart has ordered the prints in roughly the same order that they were taken as the moon was traversing through the daylit sky.

Reinhart explains that in these eclipse moments"..., we are made aware of something far beyond our common understanding. The eclipse reminds us that we are connected to the sun and moon as well as to the cosmic wonders of the Milky Way and the universe at large."

Join us this Friday evening, March 1, from 5-8 p.m. at The Open Gallery, 329 Main Street in Vincennes, for a first glimpse of this amazing spectacle that we all will soon experience.

And if you miss this show on Friday, March 1, you will have another chance to view it on Friday, April 5. Also on April 5th, Chuck will be offering an Artist's Talk at 7:00 p.m., so you too can learn how best to photograph the skies that day.

This will be a fantastic learning event for the whole family. Food, beverages and live music will be offered to all guests.

ArtSpace Vincennes and The Northwest Territory Guild will be offering up similar-themed shows during both the March and April First Friday events.

Congratulations to Sarah Wolfe, who was recently recognized (see below) by the Indiana Arts Commission. The Open Gallery is proud to include her in it repertoire of artists.

Many of you are lucky enough, and smart enough, to own a Wolfe original. If you haven't bought one yet, it's not too late. The gallery will be open next week, Tuesday-Saturday(Dec. 13-17) from 11-4. Stop by and grab some original artwork by statewide-recognized artists like Sarah. To plagiarize a famous ad: art is the gift that keeps on giving.

The Open Gallery welcomes artists Christina Zimmer Robinson and Sarah Wolfe for a new exhibition, titled These Roads Don’t Move. This series of work by both artists springs from their recent On-Ramp collaboration, a program funded by the IAC for artists in Indiana.
Robinson writes that the pieces in These Roads Don't Move are a representation of the evolving nature of her work. The series was conceived at a moment when she sought to focus on control, structure, and the harmonious relationships between colors. As a self-taught maker, Robinson allows herself the freedom to explore various mediums and styles: abstraction, portraiture, sculpture, and textile work.
Wolfe also characterizes her work for this exhibition as exploratory and flights of freedom from the many duties they both juggle as wives, mothers and working artists. While she agrees that the two bodies of her work for this show may seem disparate, the abstract floral pieces are “a joyous, freeing exploration of color and textures gleaned from the outside world. The anatomical works are simply the inverse--an examination of our potentially gloriously interesting innards.”

These Roads Don’t Move will open on Friday, Nov. 4 from 5- 8 p.m. at The Open Gallery, 329 Main Street and will run to mid-December. Both artists will be on hand to discuss their artworks with patrons. We think you will agree that these roads do, in fact, move, quite interestingly and inspirationally.

Sarah Wolfe will show her latest paintings at The Open Gallery during the months of August and September. The show, titled "Saying What No One is Thinking," is an exploration of new ideas and techniques that are both colorful and compelling.

Sarah B Wolfe gleans elements from the natural world into sculptural pieces, anatomical works and abstractions in an effort to translate environmental anxiety and reproductive frailties. While seemingly disparate, these works are part of a continuum of internalizing the external and externalizations of the internal..

An opening reception will be held at the gallery from 5-8 pm on Friday, August 6. Included in the fun, the gallery welcomes a new musical combo, Buck Rogers Clark, which includes Wolfe's husband Trevor Murry, so Friday evening will be a family affair of the arts! Please join us!

Thank you to Amy and Andy Jendrezjewski as well as The Northwest Territory Guild and all the PSP Committee members, the city and our sponsors and donors for bringing these sculptures to our community. While the galleries have suspended the First Friday events during the Pandemic, these public works of art allow us another avenue to enjoy and celebrate the beauty of artistic expression. Hope you will take some time to seek them out in our community and let us know how you respond to each. It is important to get feedback in order for us to continue to bring new artists to our community and even expand the program.

Hope you enjoy this slide show from ArtSpace.
