Are you passionate about ice sports and thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment? The City of Virginia is seeking a dedicated Utility Worker to help create exceptional experiences for skaters, community members, and event guests at the Iron Trail Motors Event Center.
In this role, you’ll play a key part in maintaining our state-of-the-art Event Center and ensuring a welcoming environment for all visitors. The ideal candidate will have experience in ice operations, grounds maintenance, and event support, along with a strong commitment to customer service.
Although the position is based primarily at the Iron Trail Motors Event Center, you may also assist with maintenance across other City park facilities, including recreational areas, picnic shelters, and playgrounds. Whether you're resurfacing the ice, maintaining the grounds, or assisting with event setups, your friendly, helpful attitude will be essential to providing an outstanding experience for everyone who walks through our doors.
This role requires a rotating schedule that includes days, afternoons, and weekend shifts with 10-hour days. The facility operates on weekends and holidays, which are included in the schedule. Applicants must possess a valid Class B CDL with endorsements for Airbrakes and Tanker.
This position is governed by the AFSCME Local 454 Collective Bargaining Agreement. The probationary wage is $27.62 per hour for the first six months, with an increase to $30.69 per hour after that, starting in 2025.
