Woman’s Club House 1889-2019: 130 Years!
The Woman's Clubhouse Association is the keeper of this historic building located at 770 W. Hill St. Wabash, Indiana. Built in 1889 as an orphanage, it became the first hospital for Wabash County in 1903. When the hospital moved, a crusade, lead by Mrs. Jessie Beitman, began to secure the building as a meeting place for woman, organizations, and the community. The Clubhouse offered art exhibits, musical recitals, educational programs and many social activities to Wabash. A food service program helped to keep the clubhouse running. In the day, it was the place to come.
Today there is a renewed interest in the mission of the Clubhouse to preserve the historic landmark building, to educate about the importance of our architectural history and to provide a large range of services and programs that meet the changing needs of today. The Woman's Clubhouse is one of only 3 of its type still functioning in the state of Indiana under its original charter and in its original building.
The House is available for daily rental fee to clubs, businesses and private individuals for meetings or events. It has a fully equipped kitchen for your use when renting the building or you may cater your event with our in house chefs. With an extensive menu to accommodate all themes and occasions, we will be happy to showcase our talents for you.
