Tomorrow is Waco’s most prestigious New Year’s Eve tradition – Barkin’ Ball! For 17 consecutive years, this event has been recognized as the Best New Year’s Eve Event in Waco, a testament to its impact and the community’s unwavering support. As Fuzzy Friends Rescue’s flagship fundraiser, Barkin’ Ball is instrumental in sustaining their mission. The funds raised during this evening directly support the rescue, care, and placement of cats and dogs in need across Central Texas.

✨ STAFF SPOTLIGHT ✨
Meet Jeanette Quintanilla, our incredible Custodial Supervisor at the BASE at Extraco Events Center! Jeanette joined our team 8 years ago, starting as a seasonal worker during the Heart O' Texas Fair & Rodeo. When the BASE opened 4 years ago, she became an indispensable part of our team—and we couldn’t be more grateful for her dedication!

🌟 Jeanette is a cancer survivor whose strength and positivity inspire us every day. She’s also a proud Waco native, graduating from Waco High back when they were the Tigers! She spent several years in Houston, where she became a diehard Astros fan. ⚾

🎶 Outside the office concerts are her happy place! Jeanette has been to so many shows that she’s lost count. Most recently, she saw one of her favorite bands, Los Lonely Boys, at Billy Bob’s Texas!
⚜️ She’s all about Mardi Gras fun, with Christmas coming in as a close second for her favorite holiday.
🌊 When it comes to adventure, Jeanette would pick skydiving over scuba diving any day. But if she’s near water, you’ll find her safely on a glass-bottom boat!

Jeanette has a natural gift for making people smile and always strives to see the good in every situation. Next time you see her, make sure to say “Hi!”—her positivity is truly contagious! 😊

Thank you H-E-B for hosting the Feast of Sharing at the Extraco Events Center and providing meals to over 7,000 people in our community. 🍽❤️

H-E-B Feast of Sharing is a series of festive gatherings that serve more than 340,000 meals at 34 dinners throughout Texas and Mexico. Filled with food, music, and good cheer, these free holiday feasts are open to the public and bring together family, friends and neighbors. Launched in 1989, H-E-B Feast of Sharing gives the company an opportunity to give thanks to its loyal customers and invites everyone to our holiday dinner table. In the more than three decades H-E-B has held the celebrations, more than 375,000 volunteers have helped serve nearly four million meals.
This initiative is an important part of H-E-B’s Hunger Relief Program, which works year-round to prevent hunger. Last year, H-E-B’s Hunger Relief Program donated 34 million pounds of food to families in need. Since 1982, the year the program was founded, H-E-B has donated more than 1 billion pounds of food to 5,500 non-profit organizations in Texas and Mexico.

✨ STAFF SPOTLIGHT: Meet Kat Hill! ✨

Get to know Kathryn (Kat) Hill, our dedicated Mission Coordinator here at the Extraco Events Center! With us for over a year, Kat's role shifts daily—from supporting the HOT Scholarship Fund to handling key administrative tasks. She’s known for being a team player, always ready to lend a hand where it's needed most.

Hometown & Education: A proud Waco native and Clifton High School grad, Kat went on to earn her Bachelor’s in Ag Services and Development (with a Horticulture minor!) from Tarleton State University. 💜

Outside the Office: When she’s not at the Extraco Events Center, Kat loves spending time with family and friends, traveling, and diving into a good book. You’ll also catch her at her favorite restaurant, Tres Hermanos!

Fun Facts:
Favorite Holiday: Loves fall holidays, especially Thanksgiving! 🍂🦃
Adventure Ready: Given the choice, she’d go scuba diving—just as long as there are no sharks—or skydiving!
